What are the best products (shelving, et al) to buy to build your own scrapbooking station at home?
I'm not looking for totes or anything for portable scrapbooking. I want to build a scrapbooking work center in my home office. What are the best products (shelving, cubes, etc) to use? And where can I find them? Thank you for your help!
Brand new in my Micheal's store this month are Making Memories cubes, drawers (2) and turntable table top organizers. The cubes and drawers fit together and stack together. All are white and are made of MDF. Prices are good but the cubes only have 2 or 3 compartments. They also have a huge, lovely, white wall shelf. It's a bout 4 inches deep and holds jars and stuff with 2 paper towel like holders for ribbon spools to spin freely on. Looks really nice. That's what I would do but depending on how your paper is organized, you may need lots of cubes to separate colours etc. Good luck!

Ikea do a great shelving unit, it is cubes and comes in various sizes, from 8-24cubes, and in a variety of colours and the shelves are big enough to fit 12X12 papers and boxes with your accessories, Cropper Hopper do a home storage range, as do Michaels, they now have cubes you can build up, and a lovely Making Memories wall mounted storage for all your embellishments and accessories, I also bought a few cheap IKEA kitchen units to make a large island to work off of, with a cheap work top from Lowes on top.

I am a cabinet maker, here is what I do. Cut your shelf to fit from side to side. Cut your upright to fit top to bottom. Now layout where the two pieces intersect. Cut a slot the thickness of your material half way Thu the shelf and half way Thu your upright. now slide them together with some glue and they lock right in place, then slide them into your 4X4 unit. It's like making a peace sign with both hands and sliding your fingers together on the opposite hands, they lock together. Try it on some scrap wood first.

Visualize this. The first course (Verticle) may be installed with a blind post and turn lock piece of "capture" hardware. It turns in a predrilled hole. Flush with the surface it captures ridged pins inserted above it, in the horizontal. Before the next aligned verticle is installed, and in manufacture, the horizontal also has ridged pins installed facing UP, with the next verticle having the "Capture" hardware in the inside (or outside) of its face. when it is set on top of the preceeding verticle, and the "capture" nut turned, it locks to those pins, aligning it to the previous,,,and so it goes.
