Have you tried putting 3/4 inch plywood between the mattress and box springs? That can stiffen up the feel of your mattress. You can also use multiple 1 x 12 boards about 6 foot long..

Try a foam mattress cover. I had the same problem and it has helped quite a bit. They are about $20-$40 and can be found at Walmart. www.walmart.com
can you "flip" a pillowtop mattress when there are indentations where we sleep?
We have an expensive king size pillowtop mattress. Simmons Beauty Rest. It is only 7 yrs. old and has indentations where we sleep. It is very uncomfortable since these "holes" make it impossible to turn over in your sleep and there is a high spot in the center of the bed. We are trying to figure out what to do. We have 2 other mattresses in our guest rooms that are very old and do not have pillowtopsthey are still quite comfortable to sleep on. I think that the pillowtop "feature" is the problem,but it is very difficult to find a non-pillowtop mattress. We do not want a memory foam one either. Which companies make a regular mattress.
No, you can't flip a pillowtop, but you can rotate it. Rotating the mattress should happen every 7 weeks or so. Also, vacuuming the mattress helps to keep the pillowtop fluffy and uniform.
How do you get stains off of a pillowtop mattress?
My daughter was napping with me this afternoon and had an accident in the bed (yay...) - which of course left a dull yellow stain on our new white pillowtop mattress. How can I get it out? I dried it up as best I could, but that didn't seem to help.
try 409 carpet cleaner. that is what we used and it was wonderful . we also applied frebreeze and that helped with the smell too. try and see....

Brylane Home and Domestications both sell sheets for pillowtopped mattresses and they are not as expensive as in the stores. My King size mattress is 18 inches and I put a featherbed under the fitted sheet which takes it to 22 inches. They sell sheets that not only fit, but they don't come off the corners. Both have websites and catalogs.

Me and my fiance have had our pillowtop mattress for almost 7 months now and we have noticed that it is convexed. We both feel like we will fall off of the bed because it is higher in the center than where we sleep. Im not sure if its because its a pillowtop or what but we have been losing sleep because of it. the problem with spring mattresses is that over time the coils will compress down ... if you sit on the side of the bed this will compress the coils there and this sounds like what has happened with your bed...since you have had it only about 7 monthes it should still be under warrenty... I would do a claim on it try and see if you can...
