Cost to Install Security Sytem Door Contact Sensor?

I recently got a new patio door put on, and the installer informed me that the sensor is on the opposite side of the frame and will need to be moved over to the other side to detect an entrance.. Does anyone know how much it'll cost to swith the contact over the the other side of the door?

Patio Door Doggie Door - Need Securtiy Bar?

I have checked Home Depot and Lowes. Tried searching the internet for it. I am hoping someone will know on here. I just installed a Dog Door in my Sliding Patio Door run. Below is an example of the one I bought. I want to get a security bar for the sliding glass door. Problem is I need one about 25 inches big. I can not find one for that size. Shortest bar I have seen is a 28 inch. Any suggestions? Anyone have the same situation?

I think you mean across the part that is not doggy door? If so you can use any kind of broomstick cut to size to keep the door from sliding open... You can also get a metal bar cut and place it in the bottom...have hole drilled in with a ring or something inserted through so that you can pull it up easily.

The only thing is that you have to do that from the inside but it will work the same just won't lock and wont' be as easy to use as one that is made for the door.

Not Very. A brick, Hammer or heavy screw driver will open most of them.

Shutters. Likely a good kick will break the flimsy wood of which these things are usually constructed.

You have an opening in the fortress wall. This should be treated with such consideration that would bring carefull thoughts about the vulnerability of the materials used to close this opening.

Steel is a good idea. To make your home secure you have to think about it this way

You are outside on a freezing cold day. You only apparell is a jockstrap, suddenly you have an attack of the runs and because you were drinking heavily, (which is why you forgot your clothes) you have to pee in such volume as to shame victoria falls. AS you run for the door you find that you forgot your to put your keys in the "Pouch" and you want to get inside.
Can you get through those patio doors? If so, so can any intruder.

You may be a very honest guy and think that a sliding glass door will keep other hoenst people out. This is true. But if they were honest they would be coming to have a barbie and the door would be open.

Think about the guy who wants in to steal everything moveable - how difficult can you make it for that kind of person. Pick the style and materials for your doors based on the criminal mind, not your honest neighbor.

Advice on improving home security?

After a few car robberies where the keys have been obtained by gaining entry to the house, i am worrying as i have a car thieves would love. I'll give an overview of what i have now, basically i just need to make it hard to force entry.
I have a patio door on the porch that deadlocks then the main front door with a normal Yale latch/lock and a 5 level lock also. House is alarmed with PIR's in main areas. Back door which is in kitchen has a five lever lock and a small latch at bottom of door, this door has 6 glass panes in, whether these can smash easily, i don't know. I have CCTV ( cheap system - quality not great) looking down the side of the house, this is how you get to back door. I also have 4 PIR security lights around the house.

Can i improve anywhere. My main worry is that back door?

Someone tried to break into my apartment. What should I do?

I just got back from a lovely week of vacation and discovered that someone attempted to break into my apartment. I live on the ground floor and the thief tried to get in from my patio door. I noticed the screen part was slid back and the door was unlocked. the thing that saved me was a security bar I put that blocks the door from being opened. But I am seriously creeped out. It was kind of my fault because I only left the hall light and the TV on, figuring my petsitter would leave a light on at night. (I figured wrong.) It's just scary the idea that someone got so close to getting in my apartment. It's also scary because it was most likely someone in my complex since my apt in the midde of a big secluded complex. What can I do to make myself feel more secure?
