We tried to program an opener in my husband's truck & this morning none of the remotes, wall buttons or my husband's truck would open the door. The light will not come on & my husband's truck was dead! We had to jump the vehicle. Is there a battery to be replaced in the garage opener; could the two not working be related?? I tried unplugging the unit & there is still NO life. HELP!

Check the breaker in the switch box and make sure it is on. If the breaker is on then you may have the garage opener on a ground fault receptacle. If you have one in the garage then the power to the opener may be from the ground fault. On the ground fault receptacle you need to push the reset button. Either way it has to be an electrical problem. Good luck.

We got out last garage opener about 4 years ago. I have a car in which you have an option to program a button on the console that will open the garage door as well.
I have never had an issue, but here lately its 50/50 on if the opener on my car console will work. Many times I have to get out and open the garage because it refuses to work.
Could the problem be that the opener is not getting its signal clearly for some reason? Do you think its an issue with the car button or the garage opener? (unfortunately, I dont have a standard remote opener that comes with unit to check with that)

Anne check the motor part there is a antenna ( small wire) you might have to remove the cover to get to the wire. The wire is connected on one end only. Pull this wire out and let it hang down even if it's outside if the cover it's OK. this antenna is what picks up the signal from your car.

I have a Craftsman garage door opener. My BMW X5 has 3 buttons which you can program to open your garage doors, activate home alarm. I tried both options from the BMW manual to set it to open the garage doors but it doesn't work.
If I'm too far away...what should the distance be from my car to the garage opener unit when I'm trying to activate the signal?

If you have a garage door opener that changes the code every time it's used you may need two people to set the one in the X-5 to work for you and you need to be very close to the opener. Mine is like that and I had to be right under it and have another person work the opener while I worked the settings. The manual goes into that a little. So it depends on if you have rotating settings on the opener.

I want to install a garage door opener, but in the garage the main beam is in the way. It is a high ranch with a 2 car garage and the beam crosses through the middle of the garage parallel to the garage doors (supported by a pole in the middle of the garage between the cars. To install a ceiling mount garage door opener, I would have to cut a large hole or notch in the beam for the rail to pass through.

Is that OK? What are the alternatives?
