If I like the tone of the 2004 or later Chevy truck chimes instead of the 2002, can I change it? How hard is it and how much does it cost? im planning on doing this on a 1999-2002 Chevrolet Silverado.

No you cant alter the chime unless yo remove the radio. The chime is generated by the factory radio. I put a new radio in a 2003 silverado and the chime tone changed. But I dont know any way to control its pitch.

i just got my pioneer installed and i needed to keep my door chimes for safety reasons that the factory installed system gave. circuit city is a joke with installing any audio having been there twice for one problem. anyway. they gave me the wrong adapter a gmos-01 which is for the grand am without the factory monsoon system and actually calls for gmos-04. does it make a difference or should i get the specific type adapter even though the one gmos-01 works but sounds like crap?

Sounds like your ignition SWITCH (not to be confused with your ignition lock CYLINDER) is worn out, by the symptom you describe. This switch is located under the steering column. Hope this helps.

How hot should a door chime transformer get?

I just installed a heath/zenith door chime using a heath/zenith wired transformer. The door chime works fine, but the transformer is pretty warm. I realize transformers do get hot, but how hot? It is hot, but not so hot that i can't touch it and keep my hand on for as long as I want.
