How come my new convertible couch/sofa bed won't open?
There seems to be some mechanism on the new fold-out couch that keeps the mattress affixed to the frame for shipping. Whatever it is was not un-done (or removed?) by the delivery dudes, and we cannot figure out how to get the thing open.
We rang the store, but they were clueless, as well, but will send someone 'round tomorrow to have a look. (I don't know who's dimmer, me or the vendor who cannot even tell us how to operate the thing.)
If someone can cast light on what-all needs to be done to open up the mattress, it will mean one less night on a cot.

Take the cushions off the couch, and look to see if there are some cloth (or something else) ties on the front of the bed frame tying the bed frame to the sofa frame. Untie them, or cut them if they won't untie, and you should be all set.
I would tip the couch back and take a good look at the bottom of it. There must be a zip tie or something there that is securing the frame so it would be safe for moving. Find it, severe it and go to sleep.
Take off the cushions and look there is probably some strap that is nailed to the frame of the couch to keep it from coming out during shipping and sitting at the furniture store.... you may have to turn the couch upside down to get to it.
What color couch should I get?
Would someone be kind enough to give me opinions on this room setup?
-The walls are white. The ceiling is white and is 3 meters high. about 9 ft
-The floor is light colored ash.
-The curtains are yellowish cream with light color stripes.
-The desk and book case are matching light cherry wood color.
-They are classic styling furniture.
-The door is a very very dark brown (not reddish but more blackish brown) classic shaped door.
-The room has enough room to fit a couch /convertible bed.
The couch I am thinking about getting is a classic styled couch. The problem is the color.
The color I like is a dark brown color with floral accents in various cream and tan color. The brown is not as dark as the door but definetly darker than the book case and the desk.
Would this couch go well with the room mentioned above or are there too many dark elements in the room?
BTW currently there is no rug in the room.

i like this idea of the floral, the rest sounds so stark. i would add a bit of warmth to it with some accent peices in a burdendy or burnt orange color also. if you go with a solid neutral color, it will look so boring and plain. i would guess that is not the look you are going for. also depends on the size of the room. the curtains, does the cream-yellow come close to any of the colors in the couch? if not, you may want to consider new ones, with one or two of the colors in the couch, maybe some sheers or lace with a darker solid color valance or swag. sounds nice though, good luck
Best place in NYC to buy a reasonably priced couch and coffee table?
I don't have a car so anything outside out of Manhattan really isn't an option for me. Also, I have been to jenniffer convertibles and Ikea and found nothing I like. Thanks
try ikea. They have free transportation and ferries from the financial district that take you straight to the store. They also deliver in all 5 boroughs. Even though its in Red Hook, it really isn't that hard to get to.
How does Jennifer Convertibles sleep couches compare to lazy boy in comfort?
Different people find different couches more comfortable - some prefer a more firm level of support, and some like them softer. So there's no definite answer - my advice would be to go to some stores and try them out - most stores are more than happy for you to lie down on their beds and couches as long as you take your shoes off, so find out which is the most comfortable for you!
Having problem using convertible crib for a toddler bed as it is...Help please!?
I have an 18 month old who I know is ready and would love to be in her big girl bed. Recently she has been having a terrible time sleeping in her crib and I feel that a large deal of it is because she feels too confined ect. She is deffinatly a monkey and can get onto/off of the couch and even coffee tables no prob. Well we got her one of those convertible cribs thinking it would be a great money saver even though it was a bit more to start, the problem is that even on the absolute lowest setting the matteress is soo high off the ground that she doesnt want to try gettin out of it. Also it said it came with a toodler rail, but that rail is really only good to hold the matteress in place from sliding out of the frame, it's about 1/2" higher then the mattress. It's just high enough that she won't try and climb over it cause it pokes her belly. Has anyone else had a problem with a converible crib being too high to use, and what was your solution? I don't want to go out and get one of those plastic beds because for 1 i'd have to take the whole crib apart and get it into the attic. ANd 2 I really love that all of her furniture matches ect. ANd I hate charectory crap. I really also do not want to go spend another $150 for a wooden toddler bed. ANy ideas?
Well hers goes from crib to supposedly toddler/daybed into a full sized bed. I didnt want to buy her mutlipe beds in her life so i thought this was a great solution. She is a peanut though so I know she is deffinatly not able to use a full sized bed (which is bigger then a twin). Also hers does not have wheels or anything else that allows t to become shorter. And as far as a step stool I am just concerned of her going to get out of the bed and missing the stool or slipping off. Again she is pretty petite for her age so thats a big factor.
We only used the convertible bed for a very short amount of time. My daughter just didn't like it.

They are a little expensive, but they work. My crib came with one for the conversion and it was great.
You could also buy a step stool to help get in and out of the bed. We use one in the bathroom, and my daughter has done great with it since she was about 18 months. Just find one made for toddlers so it isn't too high off the ground.
