I have a couch from the early 1900's and it is dingy and needs some touch up cleaning. I don't want to ruin the original stuffing inside. An ideas?

do you know what it is stuffed with? if not ask an antique dealer. you may want to consult one just to find out how they suggest how to clean it, i would suggest to steam clean it but I am scared that it will hurt the fabric. sorry i can't be of further help.

Couch is Approx. 130 yrs old. Horsehair seat cushion, Wood trim on the bottom.

Check your local museums. They usually like to have items donated but the larger museums will purchase an item they think is suitable for their collections.

There are antique dealers out there also. Check around.

If you live around NYC or Hollywood you can rent it out for historic or period movies.

It was made in 1900-1915 and was parlour furniture. I inherited it from my Grandmother. No one knows any thing about Kroehler furniture. Originally it was MOHAIR abut I have had it reuplholsered Can any one shed some light on this parlour furniture with Cherry wood trim ?

I wish I knew more about velvet but, my answer hinges on one thing:

Is your couch water-safe? I mean, if you spilled water on it, would it ruin it?

Cause I use this stuff called Approach and I use it on my furniture and stuff constantly. It's water-based so like, I can't use it on anything I have that's silk, but I can use it most other places, even leather. So if you can spray/pour water on it and not ruin it, definately use this stuff. It'll eliminate pretty much any odor you have.

Go to www.approachit.net and give it a shot. Works miracles for me.

First off, if it's reproduction, it's probably not an antique. Reproduction meanns it's a copy. In any case, reproductions of antique Victorian couches are running for around $500 american.
