I'll be 29 soon, what should I have in my closet/wardrobe?
Jun 19, 2007 by Getsbetterwithtime | Posted in Other - Beauty & Style
I've been a t-shirt and jean/ ponytail wearing plain jane all my life. I haven't shopped in so long I don't even know how to shop. What are the basics I should have in my closet so I can start dressing my age. Any particular department store that can give me that "sophisticated lady" look? I'm not planning on going to any clubs, just want to look nice when I'm out with the family. Thank you.
Hello:)
I hope, that my answer would be helpfull to you:)no concrete shops, just a must-haves list:)thats what the most famous european designers recommend (and they are absolutely right, believe me).The first recommendation-even if you are not skinny, do not event look to the side of wide baggy clothes. So, lets get started:
1. dark blue jeans
2. white classic shirt (not a T-shirt)-you could even buy several of different colours, but white is definitelly the most important
3.black skirt (midi)
4.black, grey or beige classic trousers (preferably with a jacket of the same colour)
5.kashmere pullover
6.leather bag
7.nice flat shoes (be carefull to choose REALLY nice one, because there is always a danger of becoming an old lady if u take a wrong model)
8.high healed shoes
9.leather belt(matching with the shoes and the bag. some designers say this is not neccesary, but you should have some experience in mixing and matching for taking this kind of adventure)
10. leather jacket
11. trendy high quality coat
12.cocktail dress
13. little black dress
14. little evening bag
15. a set of really nice and expensive jewelery-ring, earings, necklace (for special occasions)
15. 2-3 sets of simple everyday jewelery - in both cases you should not wear plastic or other materials of that kind - leave it fot the teens
16. if you wear glasses - that buy really trendy ones (this is also the case that might turn you into an old lady)
17.a load of comfortable (still not loose) and nice T-shirts: flowers and similar patterns are forbidden-remember the old lady?-choose stripes(marine is especially suitable-its summer), dots, pop patterns. avoid the sports symbolic.
18. light leather slippers with a string (for your finger:) )
19. textile bag
20.light sports shoes (make sure they really look light and feminine-leave the real sports shoes aside)
21. classic trench ("Burberry" is something that every girl would like...in the case you cant afford it(I suppose, not many people can, neither can I), there are plenty of simple companies making nice trenches)
22. load of scarves, gloves, hats (depends on what u like)
aaahhh.suppose, thats it:) seems much? it is.but these thins would serve you for years.
several tips for the end:
1.choose only natural fabrics and materials-of course, see the care notices
2. no synthetic colours-basic colours should be black, white, red, dark blue, grey, chocolatte brown, etc.-they go well with most of the other colour.
3.always buy only some ultra fashionable-2 or 3, in order not to look stuck in a style you've created for yourself and not to spend too much money on the clothing that would loose its actuallity when the next season comes.
4. the accesories make it all, so you sould mostly rely on them in order to look different every day:)
Have fun creating your style:)
