Simple, efficient and effective
This system is ideal if you are looking to maximize the storage space in your closet. The system makes it quite simple to arrange shelves and hanging rods in a way that makes sense for your storage needs.

There were a couple of small drawbacks I noticed after installing the same system in the 4' by 8' format.

Overall I am satisfied with this item given its purpose and the price.

Pros:
- quick, easy set-up
- "white" look is clean and simple
- allows for efficient storage in a typical closet
- was reasonable-priced at $52 compared to other similar closet systems and purchasing locations
- system and components are quite sturdy once set up is complete.

Cons:
- there could have been more wall anchors included (you will run out if you don't screw into any studs)
- can only customize the length of one closet rod and shelve (there are 3 pieces of closet rod and 3 pieces of shelve)

This unit can also be split up to configure two very simple 3 foot closets. If you have two closets that are 3 feet long (or a bit longer) and are on a budget, this may be ideal for you.

Exactly what I was looking for
I read many of the reviews on this item before ordering and am very pleased that I got it. I'm in the process of moving in with my boyfriend and considerably downgrading my closet space. I bought this to alleviate some of the problem of sharing one very small closet and couldn't be happier. This provided a very sturdy solution to a bare 3 foot wall where I can hang some of my clothes. The only thing I wish I'd known before hand is that with only utilizing a 3 foot section, I could have very easily used only one telescoping rod and had an entire shelf for another closet. Also, be prepared, if you don't have studs in the wall, you have to drill a very large hole. My boyfriend was a bit surprised at the size.

Soooo Easy
I am in a OLD OLD OLD rental house and the closet was just as small as the room. I ordered this kit and it was easy to read the instructions and install all by myself my husband didn't even help. I didn't have a drill thou so it did take a little bit of time. But soooo worth it and the extra space!!! I also ordered an extra shelf for $31 something and now have a full hanging rack on top and a full hanging rack on the bottom. It is very sturdy.(I was concern since my closet only had 3 studs) I did have an issue like one of the reviewers with missing pieces, but I just exchanged it online. Amazon was very fast I think I got it in two days and when they dropped off the new they took the old I didn't even have to leave my house. It was a great experience.

Rubbermaid closet piece missing
Very good price and wow they shipped it pronto! However a 36" hang rail was missing from the package. I hope Menards has one. I tired to contact Amazon but it looks like I would have to send the whole box back and wait for a new one. Going to Menards will be easier. Hopefully they have one. Just a slip by Rubermaid packers.

Easy and configurable
Rubbermaid wasn't lying when they said this is easy to install and easy to configure. Everything about my house seems to be odd and our closets were no different. Facing the task of installing shelving in every single closet, I wanted something easy but functional. This set was PERFECT for our needs. I had no trouble installing and I love how I can change the shelves and hanging rods around depending on my need.

Good Product
This product worked out great. Easy to install, good solid components and it made a big difference by making the most out of the closet space I have to work with. I was going to custom build something - I'm glad I didn't. It wouldn't have been as flexible and re-configurable and would have probably cost more. All-in-all... thumbs up! I recommend it.

Rubbermaid Configurations 3H88 Custom Closet Kit
The Rubbermaid Configurations 3H88 Custom Closet Kit is a great product. I just love it! It was pretty easy to install. It is well made and not flimsy. There are many ways you can set this up to meet your needs. We needed to get as much hanging space as we could out of a 5' closet. I am a clothes hog and this closet was full of just our winter clothes. We did end up dropping it down about 6 inches from what the directions gave because our closets were only 7' high and we could have dropped it down even a couple of more inches. We set it up with one long rod on top with the shelving across the top and a bottom rod for shorter clothing. We used 3 of the shelves for shoe racks and they work out great for us rather than adding the shoe racks. We really didn't have the room to add them and the only difference we could see is that they are flat rather than angled and the ends are open but we have not had a problem with shoes falling off and find them pretty easily. We also used a couple of the shelves for clothing. We ended up with two extra shelves and purchased additional double slotted wall brackets (other brands can be used for this purpose). We are going to install these to the side and run it the depth of the closet for the additional shelving so it ends up using up space that is normally unused. We ended up with a much more organized and useful closet and we can find things very easily. The rod on the old closet was bending in the middle from the weight of the clothes. We also purchased the belt rack and it works out great with this system. We eventually plan on doing the same to one of our additional bedrooms which is just packed with all the summer clothes. We looked at other products but in our opinion we think this is better made than others.

Love it!
We recently purchased this closet system and I have to say, I love it!! Looks so nice in my closet. My husband put it together in less than a day. We just ordered another one for his closet. Hard Work
I love this system. However, it requires a lot of work and tools to put it together. If you are not a handy person who already has a cutting saw etc.. this system is not for you. I had someone help me and it took us three weekends to complete and we had the required tools. Overall, I love this system and would probably get it again for my other closets. I could not believe all my clothes would fit when my previous system could not hold them. I love it!

Carpentry skill required
Good-looking: check. Affordable price: check. Quality: check. Ease of assemble: This is where the remaining one star went. It took a good carpenter five hours to assemble and install from opening box, determine setup, measure all that needs to be measured, cut pieces when necessary, mark and level every single rod and shelf, drill, screw, etc. Oh, add extra minutes to decipher the instruction. It says how the organizer will look, but not exactly how to put each pieces together with the right tool and skill. Cedar breaks easily with too much pressure. Details such as using smaller drill bits before screwing in are not included. The final look is really nice. It's worth the time and frustration.

Looks great, but make sure you PLAN IT OUT!
The pieces for this set are pretty basic.
3 long pieces (either 48" each or 60" each)
3 2' shelves
4 contoured support brackets
9 or so spacers for the hanging rods
4 6' trim pieces
Tons of hardware (screws, anchors, brackets, etc.)

You really need a good trim saw, or a table saw...I can't imagine cutting the shelves with a hand saw...

It took me a while to "lay out", and design my own little customized piece. I think that I started sawing a little too early, and didn't think to make the shelf on top long enough to be one of the "stacking shelves". But it all worked out in the end...Fortunately, there is plenty of "dummy room" with the brackets in that if you cut a shelf too short by an inch, the bracket will cover for you. I had a hard time with some of the screws and brackets that were to support the shelves. If you wiggled the shelf around trying to get it in to the right spot it "crunched" the wood...Once I got going though, it really came together quickly, and looks great as a final product...Wife is very happy with results...I have tons of hardware left as I used much longer screws to really drive it in to the studs for years of use...Do get some spackle though, because leftover damage from removed wire shelving left nice big holes.

closet organizer
The finsished project is a thing of beauty and so very wonderful. Glowing words I know for just a closet. My closet was such a mess I literally could not find thing in it. Now everything is within plain sight and easily accesable.
The project was not as easy to install as the manufacturer led me to believe however with the help of an able handyman it was installed perfectly. I would not advise the average DIYS to try this project. Another fault is that we had to keep ordering additional accessories to achieve the results we thought we saw in the photos. The photos are not misleading, its just that you really don't know what you want or need until the project is underway.
All in all I'm in love with the finished project.

Good looking do-it-yourself option
We bought one kit for a 7' reach-in closet and had to modify it a bit because the instruction book gives suggestions for 10' and 8' layouts. I'd recommend a circular saw for cutting shelves and rods if your closet is not exactly 8' or 10'. Also not on the "required tools" list were a stud-finder and a drill. We found drilling pilot holes to be appropriate in some cases, and the large numbers of screws made using our drill a must. The wood is soft and frayed slightly when cut. Because of that, and a few nicks during installation, the included touch-up stain came in handy. Also useful was a transparent grid which allowed us to play around with different layouts before we ever began. Installation took two handy people about 6 hours, partly because of the limited space in the closet. I'd recommend removing the closet doors if you're not installing in a walk-in. I'd also HIGHLY recommend reading the instructions all the way through before beginning, laying out all the materials and labeling the bags of screws by length, and taking your time. This is not a job that can be rushed. When complete the closet looked great and the system is very sturdy.

Beautifully functional
My husband and I are delighted with this solid wood closet organizing systerm. It's classy and beautiful--unlike the tacky particle board, plastic or wire systems in most stores. There's room for everything and more than one unit can be put together to fit any closet. Plus, shelves and towers can be purchased to fill any gaps. Would recommend this to anybody!

Spend more time on plan than install
It was easier than wire shelving. The supplied hollow wall anchors are so-so. Using a cordless drill, hammer, and miter saw speed things up. If you are lucky enough to have straight walls, you shouldn't need the hammer. If you don't want arms like Popeye, get a drill (all fasteners are screws). This system also gives you a perfect excuse to go buy a laser level. Once the tools are collected and the plan is FINALLY agreed upon, the closet can be installed and used in under a day.

Wall Board
First, the 16" model is available at Target for $479.99 (but we did have to pay a 5% sales tax)

The instructions are reasonably straight forward but should be read very carefully and:

(1) Make sure that you do not block any electrical outlets with the shelving by planning ahead and

(2) If you can find studs do so, plastic anchors they supply are OK, but the whole system is cantilevered (that is no support on the floor) so you have to be in solid to the wall, especially at the one bracket end.

(3) Finally when installing the tower brackets do make sure that they are the right distance apart AND in proper alignment to the top brackets that were the first step in installation, otherwise you might have the top shelf resting on only PART of the tower (it will work but not look "finished."

Also, you will need a 10 foot ceiling to hang two clothes racks in the same bay, on an eight foot ceiling you will be out of luck there is just not enough vertical space to do it.

This was one of the best purchases I've made in some time. I definitely created A LOT more space in the closet! Was pretty easy to install. Would have been even easier had the ceiling in the closet been level. But that's not the products fault.

Good as long as your closet falls between 5 - 8 feet
I bought this to "make over" my sons' closet. Since they are twins, I was worried about having enough space for everything. It was great, unfortunately the closet was a little over 9 feet. We made a few adjustments to make it work, but it would have been nice to have it working in a closet our size. I didn't like the ones for a closet over 8 feet.

Villa awarded Community Service Tax Credits

The Kansas Segment of Commerce awarded $4.13 million in Community Amenities Tax Credits to 20 nonprofit organizations around the express, including Schowalter Villa in Hesston.

“We’re intoxicated to award tax credits to these creditable organizations,” said Kansas Bureau of Commerce Secretary David D. Kerr. “These tax credits are a grand way to spur investment in community repair projects across the land.”

Mennonite Go aboard of Missions and Charities of Kansas Inc. (doing affair as Schowalter Villa) was one of awarded Kansas Tax Credits for their stand out “My Garden, My Core.” The $250,000 tax credits will bring into being $357,100 in donations to endowment facility upgrades in salubriousness care, including modernizing home-owner rooms and creating a secured garden where residents and children from the connected teenager-care program can be outdoors together.

Residents advocated the changes to the courtyard.

They reminisced about full outdoor lifestyles before they skilled changes in their well-being-care needs.

“Being adept to roll my wheelchair around and retard things out, sort of like checking the barrier line on the holding,” Merle Selzer said.

Plans embrace securing the courtyard arrondissement to allow a right place for out of doors living and adding walkways, raised gardens and a top-grade feature.

In summation to the outdoor improvements, the cynosure clear of this project includes private enhancements. A few of the improvements planned are re-designed closet/storage

Do you know of any good closet systems for a closet that is only 55" wide?

I am looking for a closet system, because I love organization. I just got sliding doors to my closet, so I am now able to reach areas in there I could never reach before. I would like to maximize all of the space I have. Do you know of any good closet systems that would fit in a 55" wide closet?

When we bought our house we went to Lowe's and they have a system were you can pick all of your features you want and they can lay it out for you. We did the closet in our Master Bedroom for under $100. It is great on one side I have hanger bars one on top and another down lower and I have sets of shelves that I can fold clothes and put them in there and a shoe rack. But I would defiantly recommend not doing a system that is all put together already, so you can customize it to your needs.

Hi, on the show "Clean House" they always use a completely modular shelving system which they always name. Unfortunately, I forgot the name. I checked the series website and while they have buying information for many products, they don't mention the shelving system. Does anyone know the name? Thanks.

My boyfriend told me that he saw a closet system at a Home Depot that installed against the wall and had the clothes hanging on against the wall as opposed to across a bar. It's meant to create a ton of space in the closet. I looked all over the website, but can't find anything like it. Does anyone know where I can find this?
