The superlative Lisa Scottoline, along with Daughter Francesca, is back with more foolhardy and wonderful wit and wisdom.
New York Times bestselling originator Lisa Scottoline struck a chord with readers, regulations clubs, and critics with her smash-hit essay omnium gatherum, Why My Third Husband Will Be a Dog. This time, Lisa teams up with Daughter Francesca to give their mamma-daughter perspective on everything from blind dates to empty calories, as well as life with the feistiest octogenarian on the planet, Mum Mary, who won’t part with her thirty-year-old bra. Three generations of women, triple the laughs---and the infatuation.
Inspired by their weekly “Chick Wit” column for The Philadelphia Inquirer, Lisa and Francesca over all their family secrets---which will sound a lot like yours. And you’ll have to put this lyrics down, just to stop laughing.
LISA ON DIETING: I’m backsliding with carbohydrates, which is the bread version of ex-sex.
FRANCESCA ON CUTTING THE CORD: I expectation I said, “I am going to see my cousin’s new apartment,” but in Mom-act as agent for c demand that translates to: “I am going to meet unarguable death in the New York City subway tunnels that are without delay to be my tomb.”
LISA ON MOTHER MARY: Most people have a roster of Things To Do, but Mother Mary has a list of Things Not To Do. At the top is Don’t Go to the Movies. Other entries subsume Don’t Eat Outside With The Bugs and Don’t Walk All Over This Cockamamie Mall.
FRANCESCA ON BEING Apart: I’m addicted to the wedding announcements. Worse, I find myself subtracting my age from the bride’s. I attentiveness I was a modern woman, turns out I’m a Cathy cartoon.
LISA ON AGING GRACEFULLY: Today I noticed my first gray ringlets. On my chin.
And so much more!

Closet space?
Are there any particular hangers that does not show the mark on your clothes like the bulge in your dress shirts and the crease where the pants were hanging?
I use wooden hangers. To avoid marks on my shirts, I hot glue a piece of that rubber mat that you buy to line cabinets, on to keep it from sliding around.
How important is closet space in a house generally?
I am purchasing a house with very little closet space (some closets were removed to make rooms larger) I plan on flipping this property, should I add new closets or leave as is?
your best bet is to check with the realtor you plan on listing the property with.
closets are very important nowadays, moreso than in the past.
as long as you have ample closet space, you should be fine. but, if there are say, NO closets, you should consider adding some or coming up with some alternative.
they don't necessarily have to be WALK-IN closets, but just average size for that house, room, etc.
How can I make space in a super small closet?
I've been living in my apartment for 2 years. I like the neigborhood, and I love the apartment. I only have one big problem, the closets are way too small. Any suggestons on how to make the most out of a small closet space?
I have an incredibly small closet, I don't know what the wheather is like there, but have you ever seen those things that shrink your clothes in those plastic bags with the vacuum. Well, I put all my winter clothes and jackets etc. In those and shrink them and either slide them under my bed or put them in the top of the closet, it saves a ton of space, also, just by reorganizing, pulling everything out and seeing what you can possibly fold,(if you have room for a bigger or another dresser) will help. Good luck.
WHere can I find ideas/examples of closet space organization?
We have very little closet space and I even have to share a clothing closet with my toddler and 8 year old. I would like to find a way to use our closet to the fullest.
We also have another closet that is fairly big and has shelves. We call it our linen closet/ library/ media closet because it holds our linen, our books and all our dvd and vcr movies.
What can I do to keep this place organized without things falling out here and there?
Thanks

Who has a great system for getting rid of clothes and shoes that take up closet space?
I want to get organized and I've taken 3 trips to the Goodwill...but my closet is still stuffed!
I want to have a neat space! I dream of having an Ikea model room, but my clutter is driving me nuts!
1] divide your closet into four sections, along the hanging rod.
Remove everything in the first section, and put clothes on bed; shoes on floor, and what's on shelves out on chair or desk.
2] keep only if:
it fits
you have worn it in last year
it is flattering style for figure
color looks good on you
you still like it
OTHERWISE, donate!
3] repeat with hats, scarves, gloves/mittens, all tops, sweaters, sweats, jackets, coats, pants, jeans, skirts, capris, bermudas, shorts, pajamas, nightowns, robes, and swimsuits.
Also, handbags, totes/backpacks, shoes, boots, and sandals.
[ do not donate used underwear or socks - only ones with tags still on! ]
If you have more than 10-14 of any item, say fitted tees, that is plenty [ and more than most people have! ]
The Goodwill, Salvation Army, and all the other thrift stores will love you!
* there are a lot of people out there with good taste, who can't afford to dress the way they like - they will be very happy to get nice clothing!
4] put shelf dividers on closet shelf - use first section for winter hats, scarves, gloves/mittens; second for stacks of sweaters or tees; third for 'filed' [ like books , skinny end out ]
handbags, and fourth for sun hat, visor, beach bag, sunglasses
5] use shoe racks in bottom of closet = do [ left to right ] winter shoes, school/everyday shoes, athletic shoes, and sandals/flip flops. Put shoes worn most frequently in front, and boots or dress shoes in back.
6] get dividers for dresser - drawer one could be bras, panties; two - socks/hose/tights, three - slips, pajamas; etc. See why you need dividers? Sections will enable you to see if your navy tights are there or in laundry, etc.
7] get a belt hanger or tie rack to hang up belts [ I do mine by color ] to finish an outfit.
8] underbed storage units are good for out of season clothes,
sport supplies, exercise equipment, etc.
9] put all cosmetics in a cosmetic box; or put eye stuff, lip stuff, etc. inl ittle containers in pretty colors [ small flowerpots, nested boxes, etc. ]
10] buy second smaller set of boxes/containers, jars for pens/pencils/markers/ compass/protractor/ tacks/paper clips
on desk.
Have fun, and thanks for donating!
