Customer Reviews

ClosetMaid Fabric Drawer Gray
Love this product! Was exactly what I expected...the color match was perfect. Looked everywhere in town for it and couldn't find it until I looked online. Will definitely order from Amazon again!! A+++++
Excellent product!
Search all over for this particular color to complete my daughters playroom in primary colors. I was happy to find it here since this particular color is no longer being carried in the stores. Very happy with product, it is sturdy and is perfect for little hands.
Good for the price
We needed some organizers for our nursery. We don't own the furniture that goes along with these fabric drawers but they work anyway. Inexpensive and functional. Maybe not the fanciest of fabrics but it works fine. Holds a lot of stuff.
Sturdy and Affordable
This closetmaid drawer is practical and affordable. I used it in my livingroom shelves to hide items that we don't necessarily want guests to see (batteries, notecards, instruction manuals, etc.). I would recommend these for public areas to store your belongings in a casual and affordable way. The fabric is surprisingly sturdy.
Exactly what I expected
I bought nine of these drawers for a set of cube shelves. They are very sturdy, a good color, and fit perfectly.

Customer Reviews

Good Buy
This was pretty easy to install and I like that the set can be configured various ways. I created plenty of space for hanging items and set up a row of shelves on one end for all the folded things like swaeters, tshirts, shorts, etc. I bought two sets for an 11' long reach in closet. I wanted extra shelves, which were easily found at Home Depot.

Pros:
* Easy to install (with two people)
* can be configured many ways to suit your needs
* Good price
* many accessories are available such as hanging drawers

Cons:
* The shelves could be a little deeper
* These are wire shelves so you cannot put anything really heavy them, but they are fine for clothes, hand bags, etc. I wouldn't put storage totes on them.

Much improved closet organization
I have a 5' 3" entry closet with the standard closet package that was constantly in a mess. My wife also had trouble reaching items on the single shelf. This really improves space utilization and access. Also easy to put up although you may need to drill your own holes in the system support bars if you want to hit your studs. Plenty of parts for any situation. Excellent value.

Customer Reviews

Great shelf, going back to buy a second
I don't write many reviews but I was delighted by this shelf and it well exceeded my expectations.

You won't get it together in "only minutes" (alone, took just under an hour) but the final product is really nice and elegant for the price. Higher quality than expected, just don't expect the moon. It's sturdy. The fabric totes are cheap and cute and an easy way to express your style or personalize your shelf. The totes themselves are somewhat stiff fabric and also studier than expected.

Some reviews said screws in the finished product are left exposed but I think that has been corrected as my unit came with screw covers. I think the whole thing finishes quite nicely. A little tap of the hammer gets the cover even with the wood. Also there were no holes left exposed from optional dollies, there were matching dolly-hole stoppers included. I had no issues with drill holes absent, all of mine were present.

My very basic little electric screwdriver did the job just fine, but it says you can use a regular screwdriver if you don't have a drill.

I absolutely recommend this product to someone looking for storage or organization on a budget, I found the lowest price at my Target store, and the bins were cheap too.
Easy to assemble and looks nice--skip the backing!
I put two of these together in less than an hour with nothing more than a Phillips screwdriver. They look great and are sturdy. The backing pieces are less attractive (basically, folded cardboard), but I wasn't planning to use them anyway. I recommend that you save a lot of time and trouble--and get a more handsome shelf--by omitting the backing. We're using these as a bookshelf and drawer-storage unit in my daughter's room, and she is thrilled with the way they look. The fabric drawers (available in many colors) look terrific, fit like a glove, and hold a ton of stuff!
An okay item, if you get it on sale...
We bought this over the weekend, from Target actually, not this seller. It was on sale for $[...]. After spending about 45 minutes trying to figure out their assembly diagrams(they only provide drawings, not written instructions)I gave up, threw the instructions away and decided to go it alone. Once I did that, assembly was MUCH easier. The illustrations they provide do not accurately indicate which board to use for which piece. They don't even have the boards marked 'A' or 'B' as some other brands do, so as to give you a little bit of help. They need some quality control on the instructions front, but once I got the product put together, I am happy with it for a 7 year old girls room. The quality is typical of what you usually find for RTA furniture.

There are probably products out there by other manufacturer's that have just as good quality, but are easier to put together. But, if you can get it on sale and have some patience...go for it!
Do not buy!
This product sells for 49.99 in the Target stores. All of the colors that you can get for this shelf system is now 49.99. That includes the cherry, espresso, green, white, and all other colors!!!
Great Unit!
I recently purchased this unit for our playroom/den. It is perfect for holding and organizing small toys! It is true that the backings did not line up exactly but they were easy enough to adjust.

Poor Instruction
The product had a corner of the outside frame slightly damaged, but I needed to get it put together. They might as well not include instructions in this product if they can somehow make them clear.

Customer Reviews

Ok for the price, horrible instructions
The instructions on this are horrible. Careful on step 4. It gives the wrong number of nails to use for the back panel. Should be 10 instead of 30 nails. You need the other 20 nails for the drawer bottoms. The material is very cheap so it is easy to damage the sides when nailing the panels. Just don't plan to store heavy items on these drawers.

Then again what is to be expected for $30. It works for what I need it, storing light clothes and accessories.
AWFUL- Not Worth It, Despite Low Price
BUYER BEWARE, AND DON'T DARE BUY

If they were giving an unassembled one away, I wouldn't want it. It isn't worth the headache.

In need of a dirt cheap storage unit for clothes, I bought two of these as they looked halfway decent. Oh so WRONG.

I was able to assemble the first unit- after two patience breaking hours- but nearly ran my head through a wall due to horrible instructions and overall shoddy construction (have fun screwing in the laughable "drawer glides"). After all the frustration, I was disappointed by the small size and the gaps that have been cited in numerous reviews (the 1/2" gaps on either side of the drawers appear because the drawers are not wide enough).

As if that wasn't bad enough, I figured that since I had already invested so much time figuring out how to assemble the damn thing, I might as well put the second one together. Learning my lesson and disregarding the instructions entirely and basing assembly off the construction of the first set, I assembled the structure of the dresser only to discover that the flimsy backing was cut too short. Really? Why doesn't the manufacturer just take my lunch as well and start dating my mom?

ClosetMaid makes these devilish excuses for drawers, and I think Ashton Kutcher must be the CEO because I feel like I was PUNK'd.

Consider yourself warned. These drawers SUCK. They bring out the worst in people. Just read this review. I'm really not an angry person. As soon as I calm down, I'm going to check craigslist for another solution as well as IKEA.

BUYER BEWARE, AND DON'T DARE BUY
Good for the price - and looks awesome.
The price on Amazon is slightly higher than you want. Target has the same product for $29.99. With that said, purchased a couple of these for my closet and love them. As long as you follow the instructions and are careful during the assembly, you are in good shape. The drawers are not too deep - which I like because it makes it impossible to over-stuff them - and they are not too tall either. You can really separate small items and the drawers stack nicely. Overall, a great buy for the price.
CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP
I guess you get what you pay for. Better off with a cardboard box. The drawers are unstable and the particle board breaks with the provided screws. This product stinks.

RIM purchases former ClosetMaid plant

CAMBRIDGE — Delve into In Motion has purchased the former ClosetMaid seed in Cambridge.

In a understanding large that closed on Sept. 29, the Waterloo-based ambulatory communications guests purchased the 480,000-cubed-foot inject from Emerson Galvanizing Canada Ltd., a subsidiary of Emerson Electrifying Co. of St. Louis, Mo.

Located at 25 Cherry Blossom Rd. in the Cambridge Duty Park, not far from Toyota, the flower has been empty since June.

Emerson Tense announced plans last year to climax ClosetMaid, formerly known as Stash-A-Shelf. The set out, which employed 500 people, made possessions and home-storage products.

RIM wouldn’t opinion on the deal, saying it doesn’t normally push property transactions.

A search of the dub in the Waterloo Locality land registry task indicates the new proprietress is 1455122 Ontario Inc., of 295 Philip St. in Waterloo. That is the same give a speech to as one of RIM’s buildings in Waterloo.

According to documents registered with the responsibility’s Ministry of Superintendence Services, the administrators of 1455122 Ontario Inc. number Jim Balsillie, Brian Bidulka and Dennis Kavelman, all elder executives with the BlackBerry maker.

The guerdon of the transaction was not disclosed, but the trait was listed for $23.5 million.

With this latest acquire, RIM is expanding its confidence in Cambridge. Last year, the house bought the former Spheral Solar erection on Reuter Conduct, not far from ClosetMaid, in a act with ATS Automation Tooling Systems. The edifice, which has nearly 200,000 filling feet of range, remains empty, but travail crews are renovating the skilfulness.

How do you clean Closet Maid wire shelving?

All shelving in my home feels coated with a stickey substance. This was shortly after cleaning with soap and water.

try Windex..or heavily diluted Simple Green.

Try using WD-40 or goof off.

Wipe off well after using.

:-)

If the shelving is small enough, then you should try running it through the dishwasher with regular detergent.

I tried to put up Closet Maid Shelving on dry wall. They keep falling down. What now?

A few months ago I had my entire garage done over. All the walls were insulated and new drywall was put up. Of course I need shelves and I decided to try these Closet Maid shelves that you find at Home Depot and other home stores. Following the directions, I put them up, but then they started falling down. I've tried every type of fastener they have and none work. So now I have ONE six foot shelf still up, but I worry it will fall down. One other six foot shelf won't stay up. One two foot shelf won't stay up either.
Should I just give up and use some other type of shelving? I have some, but again these need to be attached to the dry wall. Otherwise, I suppose I could buy shelves that stand on the floor, but they are not what I want as they take up floor space.
Your help with ideas will be appreciated. Especially before I have to hire someone to do the DIY project.

I think you need to find the studs in the wall. An electronic stud finder can be bought. A hammer and some light tapping and a little common sense can do it. I f the dry wall has not been securely fastened to the studs you might have a hollow sound even when you are tapping the hammer lightly over the stud. You should get a solid sound when you are tapping on the drywall over the stud. Studs are every 18 inches center to center. This will vary around the ends doors windows ect. But once you find a stud you can usually move toward the center every eighteen inches and find the next one. When you think you have found a stud carefully hammer a small nail through the dry wall and you will know if you hit air. If you hit something solid it is most likely a stud. Get some fasteners into those studs and you can hang your shelves

What is your favorite closet organization system?

I'm thinking of re-doing some of my closets and there are a ton of systems out there. Closet Maid, California Closets, elfa by The Container store, EasyClosets.com...does anyone have any experiences or favorites? Thanks in advance!

When we bought our house we went to Lowe's and they have a system were you can pick all of your features you want and they can lay it out for you. We did the closet in our Master Bedroom for under $100. It is great on one side I have hanger bars one on top and another down lower and I have sets of shelves that I can fold clothes and put them in there and a shoe rack. But I would defiantly recommend not doing a system that is all put together already, so you can customize it to your needs.

Is there a product that can be sprayed on "sticky" wire closet shelving so it's not sticky anymore?

We have alot of Closet Maid type open wire shelving that is still very strong and installed the way we like it, but it has become very sticky. I believe I read an article about a new product that you spray on to sort of renew the coating and get rid of the stickyness but I can't remenber the name of it.

MAYBE YOU COULD CHECK FOR THEIR WEB SITE AND FIND OUT, THEY MAY HAVE IT THERE. A HARDWARE STORE SHOULD BE ABLE TO TELL YOU IF YOU DON'T FIGURE IT OUT.

Strange question: Closet maid closet shelving!?

May seem OT but its realy NOT.

i want to build a cage for my ratty girls, the cubes holes are too large, i made a ferret cage form the closet shelving at one point and think it would work for the ratties...the biggest problem...
bar spacing.
does anyone know the actual spacing between the bars of the closet shelving? i need something 1/2" for the girlies.
i thought most likely 1 inch *grumbles* i want to avoid wrapping in hardware cloth as its such a pain in the butt! (not to mention the amount of band-aids id go through lol!

the galvinization for the closet shelving is actually a poweder coating (just like on the puperpet cages) NOT plastic coats so it is safe. it actually works real well and is easy...IF you can find the right bar spacing...
thanks.
oh and i dont use the rubbermaid bins or tanks for anything over 3 weeks old due to the lack of ventelation and amonia build up, they work great as quarentine/maternity wards or transport cages but for anything longer not safe.

The most common commercialy available shelving is 1inch wide between the bars. I have known people to wrap their cages in mesh wire (from a home improvement store) to keep their rats from escaping. The mesh can then be removed when the rats are too big to squeeze through the bars.
