I've got an old Hermann Miller molded fiberglass chair that's spent a lot of time in the sun and has subsequently developed a crackled surface. I'd like to sand it down and paint it, but I down know if its practical to try to paint fiberglass, what kind of prep it would take, or what kind of paint I'd have to use. I've looked at Krylon's spray paint for plastic, but the color range is really limited, I'm hoping to find a way to use laytex house paint.

I want to take a cruise to Tahiti so I can see many of the islands but not pack up a bag all the time (or have to eat unknown food). I am very sensitive to sun and sand, so I need to know if there are places to get off the sand and out of the sun at the different beaches on all the islands. Thanks!
