Customer Reviews

Very Disappointed
It is too small, too thin and too hard. Extremely disappointed. I was hoping it was soft but it is not and it does not have enough gel. Not worth the $ in my opinion.
Sore Tailbone!
I like it but I am looking for something better. I still get a sore tailbone just not as fast as I would without the cushion. It is good for short trips, but I need something good for 2-6 hrs.
Not what I expected
Not to happy with this item. The gel seems much to firm to really provide any relief. It really felt no different than sitting in a chair without it. It definitely did not meet the expectations I had after reading the on-line description. I used it for 2 weeks to give it a fair chance and have stopped using it and am trying another item.
Great for my back
This is a great cushion to be sitting on most of the day (I always switch before my bum gets tired). The differing thickness front to back helps keep my spine (the reason I'm IN a wheelchair) in a proper position to lessen the pain. It's not a magic fix but it sure does help. and remember folks the thick part goes in the BACK. It's so good I forget it's there sometimes. Only problem is sometimes, seldom actually, it shifts a bit but no more than other cushions I've tried. So get one and sit comfy.
best cushion to support correct posture
I have tried several lumbar back cushions and seat cushion. This is my overwhelming favorite - the gel is firm and comfortable to sit on. I have found the regular foam pillows to be insufficiently supportive and too bulky. This cushion supports the natural curve of my spine, eliminating back and psoas muscle strain. The only challenge is that in a car, you'll need to adjust your car seat for the added height of the cushion. I own 4 of these for the cars, as well as kitchen and office chairs.

Tall and Firm!
I was searching for a tall and firm neck pillow and this one caught my eye. Not only is it taller than most, it has about the same or more firmness as similar pillows. Great price, arrived in a nice package that doubles as a carry case for travel. Highly recomended if you like a taller than average pillow. Would compare the comfort and quality to other name brand pillows I have owned (and left behind at hotels) and this one is half the price!

Wounded soldier believes fast action at Fort Hood saved life

Since a Bluebeard’s bullet entered the back of his communistic shoulder, Pfc. George Stratton III, of Support Falls, has shaken President Barack Obama’s agency and been hugged by the first lady. He’s been showered with shtick and attention from people throughout the Inland Northwest.

But that face doesn’t peel off away the bad dreams or the memories of seeing friends and colleagues deceit in pools of blood, some expiring on the grounds of Fort Hood, in Texas.

Nor does it repair the shattered humerus bone in his upper liberal shoulder, a remembrance of the Nov. 5 shooting agitation in which Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan has been charged. Stratton returned retreat Sunday dusk for a monthlong convalescent freedom. He’ll see an orthopedic surgeon Friday.

The shootings killed 13 people and wounded 30, including Stratton, who was completing medical processing in preparation for a January deployment to Afghanistan. Among those killed was Spokane clan Michael Give Cahill, a civilian physician’s hang out with.

Stratton was dozing in a chair in the Soldier Adroitness Center while waiting for a room-mate when he awoke to gunfire. A rod sergeant lay on the foundation in front of him, shot in the hunger, so Stratton squatted next to him to see if he could help. He looked around; the shooter was behind him.

“He had nothing but finished loading up a up to date magazine,” said Stratton, 18. “In due course as he was done, he looked down at me. I turned away from him as attached as I could.”

I have a sharp pain in my left hip/groin area that when I get up from a chair it shoots down the front .......

...of my thigh to my knee. It does not hurt as I am walking & can do mostly everything without pain except when I bend over it's terrible to straighten up to stand again or to get up from a chair.
I have an appointment with an orthopedic dr. a week from Mon. & am wondering if anyone else ever had anything like this ? Groin pull ? What could be done for that ?

Sounds like a pulled muscle, try to massage it out, deep massage. Have u tried motrin or ice bottles and heat bottles?
http://www.reflexology.com

Ummm...first question is: Are you a guy? If you are, it could be a hernia. If you're not a dude, it wouldn't be a groin pull if it's shooting down the front of your thigh. You may want to see a general practictioner before the ortho doc just to rule the hernia out, and go soon. If it is a hernia, you don't want it to rupture.

What's a customized chair look like really? or what do physical therapists mean when they say I might need one?

I'm 16 years old and been having really bad back pain for about a few months now. I'm in special ed and have never been diagnosed with anything else besides elhers danlos syndrome or something, week muscle tone and just the basic symptoms of that. I have a learning disability, but anyway, about a year ago I saw an orthopedic about my back, they did exrays and it showed a slight curve but nothing huge, they call it kyphosis? or something. Well Starting a few months ago I got extremely bad pain and just hurts doing anything, walking a lot, bending, sitting in one position a long time, standing a long time. It's torture..well I saw the orthopedic again, the curve has stayed the same not gotten worse, my growth plates they say are closed pretty much. If I were to grow more the curve could change but I'm not. They don't wanna suggest surgery yet. They think trying everything else first is best. So Ive just recently started Physical therapy. My prob is my posture, I've sat so long curved over that my back is so tight and their having trouble loosing it... That's why I'm getting this pain. I'll constantly text my mom from school hurting, or end up in tears from pain. But they didn't recommend pain med, that wont work, If something was inflamed then maybe that would work. But My mom gave me med, she's a nurse, but that still didn't help. The physical therapist is working with me and giving me these types of exercises to work on. 2 to 3 times per day. Hopefully it will help. But this pain is sucky.. They also suggested that I could possibly need a customized chair. What hurts miserably is when I'm in school. Each class 90 minutes, you sit. The chairs are horrible. Instead of focusing on work I'm thinking about how much I'm hurting. I wear this lumbar support brace at the moment, but it's not helping much. It sorta Velcro's around, not too great. But I was wondering what they mean by a customized chair.. to use at home and school...like wheel in it? or .. push.. don't know if it's portable... not sure what they meant by it. Not a wheelchair.. so I'm wondering what a customized chair is.. anyone know? and if pt doesn't help withen 6 weeks or such we'll get an Mri done and make sure there's nothing more causing this pain. Surgery could be an option in the long run, but they wanna try everything before suggesting that.It would be great to hear some feedback on this. I'm having trouble with pain and it's really bugging me. Thanks

which doctor would be best a chiropractor or orthapedic?

i am having severe upper back pain. i dont know why i havent done anything stressful, it started like 4 days ago and isnt getting better at first i thought it was a stiff neck. but instead of the pain being in my neck its in my back.. like when i move my neck it hurts when i lay down it hurts.. i cant roll over in bed it hurts to get up out of a chair it hurts to get out of bed... so should i see a chiroprator or would it be best to see an orthopedic doctor?

I have had similar, and I found it best to start with an orthopaedic specialist.
They are able to prescribe drugs which are not available to a chiropractor.
If at the end of the day you are not getting any relief, then it is time to start looking at alternatives.
This situation is very much, a trial and error situation.
Hope you find the right answer.

government health-care ads depicting shorter waits for surgery in Saskatchewan.?

Wait-time debate continues

Pamela Cowan
Leader-Post

Tuesday, September 18, 2007

Joyce Manz's blood boils when she sees government health-care ads depicting shorter waits for surgery in Saskatchewan.

"When the commercials come on TV, anything to do with health care, I could take my chair and throw it at the television ...," Manz said Monday. "I feel very helpless and now I'm very frightened because I'm on morphine."

Manz was put on a wait list for back surgery in August 2006. When she called the Saskatchewan Surgical Care Network last week she was told her surgery won't happen until February but she wasn't given a reason for the delay.

"Honestly, I don't know how I'll wait until February," she tearfully told reporters on Monday morning. "As far as I'm concerned, anybody who is believing the ads they're seeing on television are being misled. I would like to know, what is being done about the hospital wait times?"

To control pain that shoots down her right leg, the 61-year-old Holdfast woman got a prescription for morphine from her family doctor last week. Although the drug controls the pain, Manz is terrified she'll be addicted to the narcotic by the time she has surgery. Despite her deteriorating condition, she hasn't contacted her specialist since she saw him last year.

Saskatchewan Party health critic Don McMorris said his party's MLAs have received an increase in calls about surgical wait concerns over the last month.

"People seeing these government ads saying that waiting lists are shortened, people aren't waiting nearly as long and that's not what people are experiencing throughout the province," McMorris said.

Health Minister Len Taylor acknowledged that surgical waits are long in some areas, but said since 2004, when Saskatchewan and other provincial governments committed money to reduce wait times and improve access, the Saskatchewan Surgical Care Network's figures show the number of people waiting for surgery has declined by more than 1,000.

When Regina's day surgery centre opens, the wait for day surgeries will drop further, which will free up operating rooms for orthopedic procedures, he said.

He said the Saskatchewan Party misrepresents the status of health care "to erode confidence in the health-care system and therefore the government."

When conflicts occur between patients and the system, Taylor said patients should contact their health region's Quality of Care co-ordinator -- positions the government created for that purpose.

"The Sask. Party understands and I think choose to ignore the fact that people are on waiting lists as a result of assessments done by surgeons and that surgeons work to establish their waiting lists based on the blocks of time available to them," Taylor said. "If a patient's needs change, they should be constantly in touch with their surgeons for re-assessment and replacement within that surgeon's waiting list block of time."

The Regina Qu'Appelle Health Region has a long wait for some orthopedic procedures, which tend to be time intensive, said Trent Truscott, the region's executive director of surgical care services.

"It also was one of the areas that was fairly hard hit in the summer because of cancellations due to the humidity concerns," he said.

High temperatures and mechanical problems with one of the Pasqua Hospital's chillers forced the region to postpone more than 200 surgeries because of the risk that the humidity could increase post-operative infections. Job action by the Health Sciences Association of Saskatchewan earlier in the summer also resulted in more than 50 surgeries cancelled in the region.

Truscott suggests that those who are concerned about surgical waits call the surgical care co-ordinators, follow up with their family physician and specialist or call the region's client representative.

I feel bad for her but the government is not going to rush some one over 60 into surgery when there are younger people in need of care. They consider it a waste of limited resources to spend money on older patients.........
