i had the same problem when my dog got ahold of one of my paint bottles all over the carpet...i went to lowes (or home depot) and bought goop off. Not goo gone. Its kinda like a paint thinner and will absorb the paint up with paper towels. If you cant find it ask a sales associate.....hopefully you wont have to sand it down and restain the chair.

What should I do to seal the black leather insert on an antique oak dining chair?

I have an antique oak T back dining chair with a padded black leather insert in the seat. The leather is definitely worn and the padding is flattened, but it's not in terrible condition. The problem is that the black color of the leather keeps coming off, thus making the seat unusable (unless you want a black backside). Is there any way I can seal the leather so that I can sit on it again?

There are fabric sealers and dyes you can purchase at fabric stores. The dye along with polish should solve your problem . Otherwise if its worn too bad last resource would be to reupholster

Remove Sticky Stuff off Oak Kitchen Chair?

I have oak dining room chairs and on the back of each where you would push it in is sticky. When I use dusting spray it just gets sticky as if there is dirty gunk build up. How do I remove the gunk without removing the clear finish or harm the wood?

I tried a Magic Earaser one time and it stripped the top coat. Since then I dust it with wood spray but havent ever got the sticky residue gunk off!

How do you keep your chair leg pads on so they don't scrape your oak floors?

I am constantly reapplying round sticky chair pads to my dining room chairs. The don't stick on because they rub off on the rug, but I need them for the back legs that hit the oak floor. I have yet to find anything that works. Does anyone out there have a suggestion? I can't afford to buy a bigger rug.

They make a pad that has a tack in it to go on the bottom of the legs and there is no gluing.I got mine at a store called wood you.

the chair was in storage with a blanket over it, the blanket wicked water from the floor and the seat and side rail are black. It is airing out at this time, help?

If it has a finish on it, you might have to strip it completely and try either Oxalic Acid or a wood bleach on it before you refinish it. Follow the directions carefully, especially the bleach. Either will probably raise the grain, so be prepared for some sanding. Wash off whatever you put on it completely and let it thoroughly dry before doing anything else to it. If you use the bleach, which might be a lye based, wash it off with white vinegar and then rinse it with water.
