Customer Reviews

So beautiful and practical!
I used my buffet server for the first time at my New Year's party. I loved it. It went from oven to table and the pork roast remained warm throughout the evening. I am planning on buying another one. I wish Cuisinart made this buffet server for lasagna too!
Nice but you get what you pay for
The Buffet server makes an attractive presentation. The candle warmers made it easy to keep food warm. I'm not sure how long the good looks will last though. For example, some edge finishes are basic to lower the cost. The buffet dish is OK. But the base piece that holds the candles isn't very high quality. For the price, it did what I wanted which was give my party some class without spending a ton for pieces I'll need once in a while.
Outstanding
I love this buffet server. I bought two and am considering more; another for me and extra for gifts. Extremely high quality with sturdy metal. High tech, expensive appearance at a great price. Cleaned up beautifully.
Cuisinart Buffet Server
I love this product. I ordered it for a party and it was great. The food stayed warm and the product is pretty. I use the pan and lid without the base to take cookies and brownies to student receptions. The food stays fresh and maintains it's orginal shape.

Excellent!
This is a heavy, quality server. I use it often as a covered skillet without the serving cradle and love it. Since it is stainless, it works well on my ceramic top range. (By the way, my friend used an aluminum skillet on her range top and it melted to the ceramic. When she tried to remove it, the ceramic cracked!)
Since it is not coated, it works well to sear meats at high heat. After I remove it from the heat source, the solid core bottom retains the heat. In addition, the lid fits snugly so it braises foods well. I am very happy that I added this to my set of cookware.

Perfect!
This item arrived exactly as I expected. It was great for keeping an appetizer warm during an afternoon party. I would definately order this one again!
Great addition to my buffet server collection
I love it. Food is kept warm with the tealights, works just as advertised. Goes from oven to table and looks beautiful. Cleanup was also easy.
Great Buffet Server
I purchased two of the Cuisinart stainless oval buffet servers before Thanksgiving and used them both. They made a nice presentation on the buffet, and worked very well to keep the food at a warm serving temperature. The servers are a good weight and made very well. Another quality Cuisinart product...and Amazon had the best price I found.
Good purchase!
This is a very nice-looking and high quality product. It's great that it can go from oven to table!
A fabulous bargain!
At its present price of just under forty dollars at Amazon (with free shipping if you're an Amazon Prime member), this is an extraordinary buy. And the 4-for-3 promotion just makes it even better.

Even at a higher price (sixty dollars, maybe?), it would be well worthwhile.

These servers are petite, lightweight (i.e. easy to carry), sturdy and elegant-looking. The ability to cook either on the stovetop (we have an induction stove, and it works beautifully for these) or in the oven is a huge plus, so that you bring your food already warm to the table and skip any messy transfer between pots and servers.

The fact that our guests can see through the pretty glass top of the server to identify what they want seconds on before opening all the servers makes it even nicer.

With four of these servers, I can serve a hot brunch with eggs, bacon/sausages and two sides, and I don't have to worry about keeping these dishes hot while also plying guests with green salad, cut-up fruit and baked goods. For Thanksgiving, I can have turkey/dressing in one, mashed potato in another, and 2 separate vegetable side dishes, all nicely warmed (with just some means of keeping gravy warm to worry about!). :)

Each server holds 2 1/2 quarts -- approximately 20 traditional 1/2 cup servings or 10 large full-cup servings. Non-liquid dishes can mound up just a bit in the center to hold a bit more than 2 1/2 quarts and still be covered by the slightly domed lid. These are not massive items. Don't confuse them with huge buffet servers. If you want to serve 5 quarts of food, use 2 servers, or refill your server halfway through. They're very easy to refill -- just pick up the lightweight pan with or without the lid, take it back to the kitchen to add more food, and then return easily to the table where the pan will slip gracefully into its rack, no problems.

The servers were beautifully packaged, with the glass lid separately wrapped and protected. Setup took about 8 seconds. The rack is pretty and graceful, letting most of your tablecloth, runner or polished tabletop surface show beneath it. Six tealights are included (the server uses two), so you are stocked up for three events before you have to go buy more tealights (which are easily purchased almost anywhere and extremely inexpensive).

Unlike the porcelain servers with tealights we used previously, these servers are stainless steel and diffuse the heat easily across the entire base, so we don't have as much of a problem with hot spots or scorched food on the bottom.

They also clean up beautifully, as do all the Cuisinart pans from the Classic Stainless Steel line, which these match perfectly. Note: while the classic stainless steel pans are best handwashed, they are technically fit for the dishwasher: just don't use a dishwashing detergent containing lemon, which will erode the mirror finish on the stainless steel. I prefer to hand wash, which is very easy, as food releases almost magically and the pans air-dry almost spot free, requiring just a quick polish here or there with a paper towel.

Note that there's no place to hold the lid when it's opened, nor a serving spoon, but that's not unreasonable. I just up-end the lid on the buffet behind the server while guests are moving through the line and then cover the dishes until guests later help themselves to seconds. A pretty saucer right next to the server easily holds a serving spoon after the first round until guests return for more. Problem solved.

And if you have to bring a hot dish to a potluck or church dinner, this is a wonderful solution. The cover fits very nicely, so you shouldn't have to worry about spills during transit (though of course you'll want to hold the pan carefully, not let it tip on an uneven car seat). You can then set the pan and cover into the rack and light the tealights once you get there. No problem keeping your specialty warm, even if there aren't enough outlets available for everyone to plug in a crock pot or electric skillet.

These are a steal. Grab some under the current promotion if you can. Even if it expires, these are worth buying at the regular price. A terrific way to ease the burden on you when you entertain, while still making your tasty delights pleasant and attractive to your guests. And don't think you're going to want just one -- consider how many hot dishes you typically serve, and do yourself a favor by getting enough to take the load off you when you entertain or for everyday use for a large family.

Customer Reviews

Ideal for mid sized parties
This warming tray is great for keeping up to three entrees warm at mid-sized (25 - 40 people) parties. We wish there was a somewhat larger size available or that two (instead of the three) larger stainless containers were available for use in the warming tray rack. We like this units enough, however, that we may purchase another unit later.
Great Product
I purchased this for outdoor entertaining.

I used it to keep my barbequed pork and beef warm and it did a fine job. I kept it on the lower heat level and the food stayed warm and it didn't dry it out.

I looked at several different brands before settling on this one and I'm glad I did because it is made well and the quality of the product is great. I really liked the see-thru lids and I was able to put a lable on the lids so that the guests new what kind of meat was in the compartments.

Even though I have used it just once, I am looking forward to using it again this Summer.

I definately recommend this product to anyone who is in the market for this kind of item.
Great product - but beware of the fragile lids
We used this product for our daughter's graduation party, and it did a wonderful job of keeping the food warm on a chilly day. My only complaint is that the polycarbonate lids crack easily. I noticed a hairline crack in two of the lids right after the party (it was the first time we'd used it). The cracks were in the same place on each of the lids, which leads me to believe it is a function of a design flaw or manufacturer's defect.
Waring Pro BFS50B Professional Buffet Server and Warming Tray
I bought 2 of these for a party for my husband. I LOVE it! The food stayed warm for 6 hours. The very dry food stuck a little to the bottom, but then it was also the only food I put in the warmer while still hot. Everything pretty much went into the warmers cold or almost cold because I cooked everything set it aside and then dished all at once. That may address the drying out and burning mentioned by a previous reviewer. So I loved that the cold food actually got warmed up and stayed warm for such a long time. I highly recommend this warmer/server. It looks sleek and professional without giving the set up a school cafeteria look. The lids are also a lot sturdier than another product I had bought and subsequently returned, the Maxi-Matic EWM-6171 Elite Platinum 3-Tray 2-1/2-Quart Buffet Server. Another great product by Waring.
Love it!
I purchased this buffet warmer to use for dinner groups at my house and it works great. I have used it to serve breakfast food, mexican food, and even hotdogs with fixin's. This makes serving a group of people much less stressful because you are able to cook ahead of time and still have hot delicious food by the time your guests arrive. The only bad thing is the trays are not recommended for the dishwasher... but they are easy to hand wash so that is not a big deal for me.

Customer Reviews

Awesome product
This buffet server is great. Aside from the cheap plastic lids that came cracked on top due to someone screwing the handles on too tight---I love it.
One Minor Complaint?
I bought my first buffet server from Costco because of an awesome deal and fell in love with the results. I have since used it for parties and even mid-sized dinners to allow me more time to spend with our guests. While the lids are a bit lightweight, I am not convinced that it is a major flaw. And then my husband dropped the box.... shockingly, only one of the lids was damaged - 1/2 inch of the corner broke off. Although I wish they were a little more sturdy, it not really a big deal in the end - and quite impressive being that I had not put it back in the box with its original packaging before it was dropped on our tile floor.

Overall, the server matches our other appliances and we like the versatility of being able to use the warming tray separately. So, we ordered another one. We may not use them often, but when we do, we are impressed at how the food stays warm and yet somehow does not overcook or dry out. (During our last dinner event, we left steamed asparagus in one of the trays for about an hour and it did not overcook. Surprising given that we only steam the asparagus for 3 minutes in the first place to get the right 'bite') We can't wait to use it to keep food warm for our summer bbq's, wine events, warm desserts and even for family dinners for 6 people. Highly recommended.
Maxi-Matic EWM-6171 Elite Platinum 3-Tray Buffet Warmer
The warmer was fine. My only disappointment was the quality of the lids. They looked very cheap and seemed flimsy and easily breakable. 2 of them actually arrived with cracks. I ended up buying the Waring Pro BFS50B Professional Buffet Server and Warming Tray which was a little sleeker and had much better quality lids.
buffet warmer
was as advertised, was a little bigger than i thought it would be, which was actually a plus. my wife loves it, everything stays warm or hot if you prefer. does not cook food or dry it out. i actually bought another one, due to the fact we entertain often.
Perfect for keeping small amount of foods warm
I loved that it was perfect for fish with sauce, slices of beef, and a vegetable based dish...Clear lids were plastic and do not seem sturdy...we'll see. I dropped one from a height of 2 feet and it did not break, despite the fragile appeareance. Tin pans are easy to clean up. I like that it could double as warming tray without the pans.

Buffet Wonder
This is such an addition to a party. I was able
to fill the pans with warm food and have it stay
warm during the whole meal. Nothing burned or scorched
and it was just wonderful.
It is a good product
It gets the job done.I bought it for my dining doom to make meals time easier and it works.
Not very good quality
It worked great for 2 Christmas parties and then stopped working. No omre heat. I guess I could still use it as a server but that sure doesnt make much sense. In addition they didnt pay my $10 rebate. Id stay away from this product and move up in quality (however...probably in price too).
Perfect and useful!
I had an old (about 45 years old) warming tray that finally stopped working. So I looked at all the options and chose this one. I was attracted by the ability to adjust the temperature and the ability to use it with the trays or without. It's stainless and a good size.

China Buffet

Hong Zheng has had his eye on Lincoln for some point.

The co-owner of the new China Buffet, which has two locations in Omaha and another in Bellevue - was due waiting for the correct location in the Upper case City.

He definitively found it in the old daVinci's structure, one block north of 66th and O streets.

And since inauguration Oct. 21, diners have been conclusion China Buffet.

In droves.

My co-artisan Joe Duggan and I came upon a full parking lot for lunch on Monday. Not Saturday, intention you, but a Monday.

"Lincoln is a big-greatness city," Zheng said. "We have wholesome Chinese aliment."

What's attractive about China Buffet is that it also has a Mongolian grill.

You can either elect among the 20 hot Chinese-American dishes the restaurant offers or imagine your own on the grill from the many meats and vegetables convenient.

Or you can, as we did, try both.

Buffet prices run from $6.95 to $10.95, depending on the every so often and day of the week. The $10.95 buffets are Friday and Saturday evening and embrace crab legs.

The buffet is a mix of inferior (chicken teriyaki) and atypical (orange chicken) offerings. It's filled with a multiplicity of pork, chicken, beef, seafood and vegetarian dishes.

My definite favorite was a seafood aggregate, which featured chunky pieces of crab and shrimp in a softening sauce. I also enjoyed the orange chicken, which featured pieces of fried chicken in a thick, not-too-tangy backchat.

As regular readers comprehend, I'm not big on buffets. That's why I visited the grill first. Here you will find a to the utmost variety of meats (chicken, pork, beef, crab, shrimp, etc.), veggies and sauces to initiate your own dishes.

If you had a buffet (not stations) why would you have servers dishing the food?

It seems to me that would defeat the whole intention of having a buffet in the first place since a buffet allows you to pick and choose what you want and how much or little of it. How would that even work with servers?

well i would never have servers because you may want little or more of something and servers never really know how much to put.

we had a buffet but we didn't have servers.
we wanted to have a sit down dinner but for over 200 people the chef said the only way to keep all the food warm would be to do a buffet. they said if they tried to carry out 200 plus plates to each guests table their was no way to guarentee hot food. we did not have servers, but i could see that maybe some people would decide to have servers with the buffet rather than having a sit down dinner as a way to keep the food warm.

I thought it was just to keep the tables tidy?

But I agree, that is kind of weird.

Some people have servers at buffets because sometimes people are greedy and pile their plates mountain high and the people who are last don't get much.

I love the idea of having servers at a buffet!

It's so the guests don't have to do any work. Personally, I think this makes a buffet nice and very elegant. Not everyone is handing all the serving spoons and all that. It's much more neat and well-kept. It also keeps the lines moving. The server plates the food and you just move through the line. People are less likely to stop and stand over the same serving dish for 5 minutes trying to figure out what it is or picking out what they don't want.

If you are at a buffet like this, you can pass if you don't want a particular dish. You just say "no thank" and do not put you plate in fron to the server.

Servers are very helpful for reasons of food safety. Let's face it, not everyone washes their hands. I've witnessed women who use the restaurant restrooms, then don't wash their hands. I've also seen people at buffets who blow their nose or sneeze into their hands, then serve themselves at the buffet with their snotty hands. When you have servers, you eliminate the issue of people spreading germs via the utensils.

People can specify to the servers that they want more of this or just a bit of that.

We're having servers for our buffet meal for a few reasons.

~We would like things to run smoothly
~It adds a bit of formality and elegance to our relatively informal reception
~It keeps things cleaner
~They are right there with the food, so they can replace it faster and keep things fresh (I always get a little peeved at buffets when the food gets way low and sort of old-looking and no one notices)

Ms. X is right.
You would have servers to cut down on mess, and keep the buffet looking nice. And you dont have a hundred people touching the same serving spoon. Guests tend to be very messy with buffets; its the venues job to keep it looking nice and clean.

We had a chef carving the beef, and another at the turkey and baked ham, to carve specific bits people like.
Servers aren't there to limit the amount; they are there to facilitate the plae filling! Sometimes it's hard to spoon out cabbage rolls, and it's nicer to have someone put them on your plate for you.

Why does food on a buffet warmer get dry or change colors?

I hosted a party once and used a food buffet server. Its one of those things that keeps food warm either with electricity or one of those sterno gel gas cans. How come it turns my meat black sometimes? is there any way to prevent that?

Thanks!

it's pulling the moisture out of the food, all you can do is keep adding more water or broth to the pan, and try to keep it covered.

How do you keep Pasta w/sauce from drying out in a buffet server, same with pasta & aoili sauce?

This is for an open house and the pasta and sauces will be in warmers for 3-4 hours.

Put a little olive oil and a little spaghetti sauce in a saute pan on the burner at low. Add the cooked and drained pasta and toss to coat the pasta. Transfer to the server and add the sauce. The oil keeps the pasta moist.

At what rate do you tip your server at a buffet restaurant when he/she simply takes our drink order?

Same question but when you place your order at a counter and someone brings it to you when it's ready.
Again, you sit at a bar and have a couple of beers and the bartender takes and delivers your takeout pizza order.

I think that $1.00 would be a fair gratuity for these services. Usually at the buffet, the server sees to it that your needs are satisfied. If they are discourteous, then no tip would not be inappropriate.

Anyone here work the Courtyard Marriot buffet?

I just got hired as a breakfast server at the breakfast buffet they have, which is full service aside from the buffet part on weekends in a very expensive southern california beach town. I was wondering if anyone had ever worked this job before and what they made tips wise every day. Thanks!

not me..
