Vertical Blinds?
My vertical blinds are filthy. They have almost turned brown. When I try to remove them I often break the holders or rip the holes that hold them in place. They are driving me nuts! How can I clean them? When I try wiping them down, it just smears the dirt.
If you wait too long to clean them you may never get them as clean as you like.
If the brackets are in good shape & you can buy a similar set You can just replace the blinds from the new set.
Or the rod just snaps in to the brackets & then you can just hook the blinds in.
Putting up new blinds is less work than cleaning old dirty ones. & new ones don't cost that much. I just did it & I think a 4 foot blind was less than $20.00.
Have you tried paper towels with water, it shouldn't smear if it has water on it? Might smear a little bit, but wipe them down twice instead of once.
How to cover vertical blinds in my apartment?
I'm not allowed to paint/or take them down and I really hate the way they look and would really like to cover them with some sheers or drapes or both but I have not idea how to do this with out making more holes in the walls or taking them down.
I'f it helps its a sliding glass door and the vertical blinds run in one direction.
Any Ideas ?
Okay, not allowed to take them down...hmm. I had these and they were basically slats clipped to the track at the top. You should be able to gently pull the slat out by tugging straight down-it just slides out. Mine used to fall out sometimes. I'm thinking you could remove the slats and clip in a lightweight drapery sheer, temorarily, and not remove the track or the hardware so that, when you move, you can just slip the slats back in and landlord won't be upset. You might even try just taking out the first one and the last one so that you can slip your fabric in to secure it. Otherwise you will need to put up a curtain rod of some sort to hold your sheers or drapes.
Which has a fancier appeal, horizonal blinds or vertical?
I'm not talking about those thin horizontal blinds you see at old motels, but the wooden looking kinds. Most apartments use vertical blinds, but I've seen the at fancy houses too. The horizontal blinds I'm refering to are the wider ones. In your opinon, which one looks classier for an entire house?

I think these days the wide horizontal blinds look classier .
of course it depends on the window and the quality of the blinds you buy , its definitely not something you want to skimp on .
best way to wash vertical blinds made of fabric?
I'd like to wash some vertical blinds made of fabric. I'm assuming that taking them down and tossing them into the washer, on the delicate cycle, will work fine. At the bottom of each blind there's a rectangular weight sewn into the blind and can't be removed. I'm assuming it won't rust after the fact. :)
Any suggestions or thing I should be wary of? Thanks.
my guess is if you put them in the washer they might fall apart you might be better off doing them in the bathtub and hand wash with detergent then hand from shower rod to drip dry and hang them back up when damp the weight at the bottom should pull to take wrinkles out

Hi, Does anyone know what type/make of glue is used to make vertical blinds?
I have got a blind that needs re-glueing at the bottom but i have no idea what type of glue to use.
