I have venetian blinds in every room. Anyone got a good idea on how to clean them. I have bought various "tools" from houseware shops but they are all quite useless. I suppose the secret is not to allow them to get too dirty i.e. dust them every other day, or once a week ......anyway just thought I would ask

The easiest thing to do is to find a local business that specializes in blinds & ask them if they have a professional cleaning service.

I chose these 2 because the instructions are similar to the ones I've read in other cleaning guides.

I clean mine with babywipes, they're damp and you can just chuck them away when your finished. I bought a proper blind cleaner and found it wasn't very easy to use at all

Venetians are a nightmare for dustcatching, especially when they are in a kitchen and get a film of grease on them too.
Ive never found an easy way to clean them

I take mine down and clean them in the bathtub full of water... I use dish soap or laundry soap, swish them around and up and down, and rinse well. Hang to dry and put them back up. Easy as pie.

I close mine all the way and carry them outside and hose them on both sides then leave in the sun about 2 hours and they will be completely dry. I have used those useless tools and even the bathtub and the bathtub works but then you have to drage them through the house soaking wet and clean up that mess.

I want to clean my venetian blinds which way is the easiest?

I lay mine in the bathtub with a little dish soap and lots of hot water. I let it sit for about 15 minutes then take a soft scrub brush and run it over the slats. This removes all of the dirt. I then rinse and either stand on end in the tub to dry, or hang on the clothes line after wiping off as much water as possible with a towel.

I want to buy lindmon venetian blinds from ikea. They're 61" long, but my windows are 64". I don't wanna buy the 91" long ones and waste that many extra slats when I shorten it. Can I just buy an extra blind and use the slats from that one to lengthen the blinds 3"?

I've gotten an apartment where the former occupants smoked heavily and the 3' x 5' venetian blinds are very yellowed and have gritty 'bits' adhering to them...dusting is useless. Does anyone have any recommendations on techniques/products to use on them to clean them up some?

Take them down and fill your bathtub with about a quarter to half a gallon of bleach and then warm water. Not hot water because it can change the shape of the blind. Put them in and let them soak about 15 min. or so. Then rinse well stand up on a towel to dry. Then rehang. It is some work but trust me it's worth it they will look like new. Hope this helps.

Where can I buy brackets for fitting venetian blinds?

My fiance bought some venetian blinds from IKEA and they don't come with any brackets for fitting them. I have tried homebase, focus and b&q and have had no luck. Where in the UK can I get the necessary brackets without having to buy a new blind?
