Easy temporary shades
Look good for temporary shades, you can cut them to size, and they're super easy to "install". I got a nasty paper cut while mounting it to the window though so be careful!
So easy to work with
These are crazy easy to install. I just moved into a house with tons of windows and did not want to force myself into purchasing window treatments quickly. These shades provide privacy and a little bit of insulation too. If you plan to raise and lower these often, however, since they are paper they may be a pain.
Yes! they do what they are supposed to do!
I have used these for several years now in various places: I long to do something "fancy" (e.g., cover them/ cord them), but so far have only been using them. Very good, Redi Shades are, indeed.
easy and attractive!
We had to trim ours a bit to fit the width of our windows... easy to do! And I was very suprised that they do not look cheap at all--I don't think anyone even knows they are paper! I have pointed it out to a few guests and they are surprised and say they would have never known.
Perfect for our needs
We bought these to serve as temporary blinds until we had our vertical blinds installed. They are super-easy to install. You just peel off the backing on the sticker at the top and stick them to the top of the window/door/etc. They look very nice and pretty classy for the price (though the clips you need to hold the blinds up detract from the "classy" part). I could see using them as permanent blinds if you didn't need to open and close them. I say that because the product is basically just heavy paper in an accordion fold. So constant opening and closing them (using the included clips) will quickly wear on the paper and make it more and more likely that the paper will crease in the wrong place.

I would highly recommend them as temporary blinds or permanent blinds for a space where you don't need to open them (or open them only rarely). For those who want to use them as temporary blinds, note that they come off very easily. The sticky strip apparently used a rubber-cement like glue that comes off easily and with no remaining residue. If you need to adjust the width, they are easy to cut with a good pair of household scissors (though the instructions recommend a cutting knife).

Great cheap temp shades
I recently redecorated my bedroom and haven't picked out blinds yet. I purchased 3 36" x 72" Redi Shades in Natural for the three windows in my bedroom at Lowe's. I trimmed them myself with scissors. They are very attractive, serve their purpose, and are very cheap. I am very pleased with my purchase. If the blackout shades were white on one side (facing the street) I would probably use them behind the bamboo blinds and just replace them when necessary. Fabric blackout shades are expensive! These shades are great temporary shades and I am very pleased with my purchase.
I bought these when I moved into my new rental house
based purely on the reviews here and I have to say, I am VERY happy! I'm glad I purchased the Redi Shade and not the other brand. These are SUPER easy to install and look good. I can't imagine I will EVER buy curtains. Thanks Amazon community!
Great product for the money.
Very easy to install with a good finished look after they were up. My only problem is that I accidently left open a window and that set was ruined after it rained. Looks like I'll need to buy some more, good thing they are cheap.
Had a problem originally with order, but was immediately remedied. Love the blinds!
These shades are attractive, easy. Love them and recommend highly if you aren't a carpenter or need a quick fix. They look so good you want to leave them up.
the fabric version is better.
I have both the fabric and paper light filtering versions of the redi-shade. The fabric one is fantastic- seriously, it is a few bucks more, but looks really nice, you could leave it up for longer than the paper ones. The paper version is fine for truly temporary use, and the fabric version holds its pleats much longer than the paper ones.

Great!
Worked great! Looked better than sheets and it was so easy to put up!!! AND so affordable!
great for cost! needed some help.
We just bought our first home. we really wanted cellular shades and really couldn't afford them. seems to be something we are saying a lot these days.

After reading all the other reviews, I did the math and realized i could cover all 4 of our windows for the price of this 6-pack.

Seemed like the perfect solution. So we ordered them. The box came - it was bent - but i figured I would get the shades up and they would probably be fine.

They were until the adhesive didnt want to hold after about 10 minutes of being up. so after I freaked out for a few minutes - we re approached the situation.

I know these are supposed to be "temporary" shades. I need them to be as permanent as they can be until we can come up with the money for what we want.

So we got some inch wide moulding and nailed it into our window box. this has been a perfect solution.

these shades are great. they look really nice from the inside and outside - and other than the adhesive and the fact that they dont let a ton of air through - i love them.

Fantastic!!! Permanent solution
I bought these as a temporary solution to last a few months last year and they are still up. Once they are up, they work so perfectly that there isn't a reason to replace them. They work great in tough to fit areas. We have slanted windows and there aren't any ready made alternatives and I didn't want to have anything custom made because of the cost. The Redi Made shades look great on my windows with a slanted tops. :-)
great shade
These shades are great for any window. They look good from outside and they are simple to put up and cut to size

Perfect solution!!!
These shades, though made of paper, look nicer than one would ever expect when installed. Being able to custom fit them to the width of the window(s) is a plus, especially for a set of windows that vary somewhat in size. So far I have had no problems with mine staying up, and I would offer the following tip: prepare the surface where you will attach the adhesive strip first; clean the area with a paper towel saturated with rubbing alcohol and allow to dry thoroughly. This removes any dirt and especially oils that prevent the adhesive from working well. The shades filter light and provide privacy although they are not light-blocking. Also, please note that the 72" length on these is misleading; the shades are that long only if the accordion pleating is fully extended, which does not happen simply by hanging them. When installed and allowed to hang naturally, the shades cover a 60" vertical space (approximately). I found that it took a lot longer to trim the width of the shades than the stated time, but I was not using the sharpest of knives:( In general I highly recommend these shades for their appearance and value!
Not sticking that well
This batch of Redi Shades just isn't sticking the way the way its supposed to. The adhesive will hold for a day or two, then the shade will fall off and need to be rubbed back into place. The only solution was resorting to two-sided adhesive tape to keep them in place. This was a repeat purchase, I've had no problem with the brand until this. Don't know if they changed the type of adhesive used, but if so its definitely not an improvement. Since they are not really so cheap (Dollar Stores sell 'permanent' shades in the same price range) I thought this worth noting.
Redi Shades
I purchased a pack of six shades for six windows in my bedroom. After putting up the shades one evening, The first shade fell to the floor during the night. Thinking that maybe we hadn't installed properly, as we were trying to stick it back up again, a second shade fell as we looked on. To date, 3 out of 6 shades remain on the windows. I am not impressed with whatever is being used to make them stick.
keep on falling down
This would be a great idea if it wouls stay up. They don't stick well to wood mouldings.
window shades
I honestly can not believe how great these shades look, privacy is unbelievable and they are amazingly so inexpensive and easy to cut.
In no time I had these up and what a great fit..What I paid for six I couldn't purchase one from another company. Thank you amazon..

Good temporary black out
We bought these temporary blinds after unsuccessfuly trying roller shades, and getting some very expensive quotes for black out blinds. We are using these blinds on top of our existing blind, and they block out the light very well. Even though it does not completely block out the light, it still does a decent job. Installation was really easy, we applied the sticky tape to the top of the frame, and used some thumb tacks to reinforce the strength, since we had to attach 2 shades together, since our windows are really long. We were a bit worried about the durability, but they are holding up really well. Opening and closing of the blinds are fairly easy, but is a two step process, you have to use the provided clip to clamp each side at a time.
UPS SHIPPING SUCKS
I bought this box of 6 redi-shades so that I could keep my house cooler during the steaming heat of summer. THE BOX ARRIVED DAMAGED ON BOTH ENDS AND BENT IN THE ACROSS THE LABEL. I WOULD LOVE AMAZON TO STOP USING UPS FOR SHIPPING. I AM RECEIVING MORE AND MORE DAMAGED ITEMS FROM UPS DELIVERY.
doing it's job
I purchased the shades to create a dark room when my baby takes her naps. it's doing it's job. the room is 80% dark. not 100% but i am still happy with the idea. especially because it's so cheap. the cons are that it's actually a paper! and when you open and close it let's say twice a day, it's loosing it's shape. overall i am happy with it.
Not worth it
I get a lot of sun in my bedroom. I had purchased these for my the 2 side windows of my bay window. Tried hanging one up. The problem is it doesn't really black out very well and the shade needs to be almost completely unfolded to reach the bottom of my window. I think I could have done just as good a job using construction paper.

Packaged it up and shipped it back to Amazon the next day.
Great to help cool off a room!
My DIL & I each bought sets of these to help cut our electric bills. Went up very quickly and easily and cut the temperature in the house by a good 5+ degrees. I put mine under my white Levelor shades that were letting too much light & heat in. We're now buying a 3rd set.

Opportunity knocks in a slump

You might reflect on that a recession is a fatuitous time to start a point, especially if you are a uninitiated graduate venturing out into the big, bad time of work for the first constantly. Better, perhaps, to act a stress it safe, to try to squeak through into a big company and climb the corporate ladder.

But you might be out of line. The downturn, it seems, has done scanty to dim the appetite for astonishing out on your own. Data published for Broad Entrepreneur Week, which began on Monday, shows that entrepreneurs are rising to the dare and launching businesses undeterred by the recession.

A look into by Deloitte, the trade advisory dogged, found that three quarters of entrepreneurs in the East of England had found calling opportunities during the decline. Research published by Kingston University shows that 58 per cent of two-dimensional businesses have introduced new services or products during the existence year. Gill Jennings & Every (GJ&E), a London-based thought-provoking property law limited company, says that the calculate of patent applications from individuals or teeny businesses doubled during the first half of this year compared to last.

Peter Finnie, a sidekick at GJ&E, believes that this up of creativity may be a order result of the slump. “With redundancies and unemployment on the flight, innovators are more like as not to set up businesses on their own,” he said.

Many of those engaging the plunge are verdict that the conditions for start-up companies are surprisingly helping. Competition during a depression is less severe, premises costs are degrade and suppliers more zealous to drop their rates.

Inexpensive Shades for Temporary Living

Q: I'm renting aright now and need to buy some shades for the windows (it didn't come with any). Since I'm on a budget and may not be delightful them with me down the road, I wondered if you could recommend some inexpensive (but attractive!) shades or blinds. Thanks.

A: Miniblinds have always been predominant for apartments or rentals, but you can find very pretty faux wood, cellular, pleated and even some wood blinds at budget prices, too. Aluminum miniblinds are affordable and bear down on in lots of fantastic colors, too, but if you're looking for something a little personal, consider your alternatives.

For example, wood blinds look valuable and soften the look and feel of a room, but you can actually get generic wood blinds at very produce prices. Faux wood blinds are also great (and they're perfect for principal traffic or humid rooms) and come in a huge go of colors. They're amazingly affordable, too! If you need something a bit more contemporary, though, sole-cell cellular shades or pleated blinds are perfect.

Before you run out and buy new blinds, you might hope for to think about whether or not you want to take them with you later. If you plan on leaving them, pick out something fun but keep it simple.
