If you have made roman blinds yourself, can you please tell me:
*What pattern did you use?
*Were you happy with the results?

I have a double window that I will probably make two blinds for, though they will be mounted close to one another. It's along the lines of 73" wide in total (two 35" inch windows plus the in-between framing stuff - but all these numbers are rough guesses) and don't think I could do just one blind. Am I right?

I want to do interior mount because it is in the kitchen and I want to keep it as tucked in as possible (thus the roman blinds rather than curtains).

I look forward to hearing from you and I will really appreciate your advice!

If you were mounting outside you could do one blind as long as you had several good supports. But you stated you were doing inside mounts, so 2 blinds are the only way you can go. Just one tip, when you do 2 or more blinds have a surface large enough to lay them side by side as you are constructing them, to mark the rods, and match the pattern of the fabric if you have one, the same with horizontal striped fabric.

Help choosing colour of Roman Blinds for bedroom?

Hi, I'm trying to choose what colour roman blinds to have in my bedroom. My walls are cream (doors and skirting boards are white) The carpet is a deep heather/pink colour (I think more pink then purple though) my furniture is white. Could anyone suggest a colour of roman style blind that would look good, I'm guessing the carpet is the dominant colour, the walls are the medium colour so I guess I am looking for an accent, white possibly? or is that to stark? Help!! I have no idea!!!

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am qualified in interior design and will help!
From what you have described I would go with something which has the carpet colour in. If you go for white or cream then your eyes will be drawn to the carpet colour when you walk in the room. To avoid the carpet being too overpowering in the scheme you would need to either have the same colour blinds as the carpet or blinds that have a mixture of the rooms colours, ie a patterned cream/white/heather. I would suggest heather cushions or accessories somewhere in the room too to tie the whole thing together, just don't go overboard! Good luck!

What is most effective at blocking daylight: blackout shades, or roman blinds?

The shades/blinds will be installed inside the window frame, and there will be an additional curtain in front of the window.
Interresting how people are so quick to judge...
I want to block out the light so that my son sleeps past 6am (the sun wakes him up) and so that he naps better and isn't tired.
I am using tinfoil right now, but it's unnatractive, and dark all the time. I want to be able to let the light in for most of the day.

Blockout shades are better but you need to make sure they come all the way to the edges on the inside mount or you will be installing blackout shades for nothing! The light will come in around the edges.I understand about the little one needing to sleep longer!
