Description:
This study examines the effects of the spectre of a Venetian blind on the thermal performance of a window. The heedless is positioned adjacent to the indoor surface of either a fasten on or double glazed window and the coupled convection and emission heat transfer problem is solved using a two-dimensional bounded volume model. The numerical model is validated with published conjectural and numerical results in the literature. The results show that the adjacency of a Venetian blind significantly improves the spirit performance of a single and double glazed window. The sightless reduces the overall heat transfer classify through the window by reducing the thermal radiation from the indoor glazing. The improved bargain of the benefits of Venetian blinds may lead to better designs of window/shading systems.

How do I clean my horizontal blinds?

I live in an apartment and we have horizontal fake wood blinds. The slats are about an inch and a half thick. The blinds themselves are very heavy and we live near a street so they get super dusty. Just dusting them doesn't seem to get them as clean as I would like. What is the easiest way to clean them?

Put them in the tub...or shower...simply take a brush &/or rag & wipe them down with a mixture in a buket of hot water...Dawn dish-soap[few drops] & vinegar...flip to other side & wipe again...then lift up & left the shower head rinse them...lay them over the tub edge on towels to drip dry...then hang back up! If you can't do them outside on a patio or concrete area that is the best alternative...I have done it many times! Take care!

Get a swifer.

We just took ours to the power wash (for cars) and made sure to dry off the working parts real well...now they're beautiful!

Maybe you need a better duster. I use a thick duster that is used on cars. I bought it at an auto parts store. You may need to soap and water it or simple green and sprung it first to get to greasy stuff off first. hope this helps.

My mom uses a piece of cloth soaked with gasoline with water, or something like that, and wipes them.

You may try Mint's(one of the answerer) mother's way and see what happens.

Try vacuuming or using a microfibre cloth.

Put them in the tub and wash them. Drip dry and hang them back up. We do it regularly.

i like a bathroom fome spry it work goog on nik-nak, blinds, ect. spry and wip-clean or rise with water.

How do I restring/fix horizontal blinds?

I have horizontal blinds that my cats chewed through. The physical blinds are in good shape but the string separating the blinds is frayed/chewed. I would prefer to pay someone in LA or online to fix them then restring the blinds myself.

Many places that sell blinds perform restringing service. I had a window done about 10-12 years ago at a very reasonable cost compared to replacement.

Is there an easy way to fix twister rod on horizontal blinds?

I have three sets of horizontal blinds (think faux wood, as opposed to smaller metal), on which the twister rods no longer twist the blinds open and shut. Any simple ways to fix this problem? They are all the same brand (in the house when we moved in), so unfortunately--probably a cheap brand, but I am still hopeful there is a solution other than replacing the blinds.

How to replace a broken slat in horizontal blinds?

I have horizontal mini-blinds - one slat is broken about 1/3 of the way up from the bottom. I'd like to replace that slat with one on the bottom (blinds are too long) so that my landlord doesn't charge me for a full set of repairs. How can I do this?

Most blinds are vertically adjustable. That is, they are purposely made too long for most windows and you are suppose to adjust them. This seems to be your case as you stated the blinds are too long.

Turn the bottom blind over (it's bigger than the middle blinds). You'll see several caps. Take the caps off carefully using a screwdriver or any other type of "wedge shaped" tool. (Be careful not to puncture your hand...I suggest you cover you hand with a towel so if the screwdriver slips, there's less of a chance of you hurting yourself.

Once the caps are off, it's relatively simple to pull one of the bottom blinds out and replace the broken one. The tedious part is threading the adjusting string back into each of the blinds.

Which way should I close my horizontal blinds at night in order to retain heat?

It's cold where I live and I figure since hot air rises and cold air drops, should I close my horizontal blinds downwards?

Close them upwards. By closing them downward and your heated air will flow easier thru the blinds and out the window
