I can get Hunter Douglass Cellular brand blinds for my whole house for about $500 more than Bali blinds. I heard Hunter Douglas is better. Bali is the cheapest brand Lowes sells. What do you recommend?

Does killing/executing the Bali bombers make us as bad as them?
The Bali bombers are supposedly being executed at midnight tonight (Indonesia time) Is killing people acceptable for any reason? Aren't they victims of others evil beliefs too? After all, they must be totally brainwashed to do what they did and the fact that they have no remorse shows how deeply brainwashed they are.. In the end, their beliefs have killed them as well....I'm not defending them, believe me, I'm just interested to get others views on whether Gandhi was right. Does and eye for an eye leave everyone blind?.

Indonesia may come to regret this. All they are doing is giving the bombers what they want the chance to become infamous as Martyrs to their cause.
In taking this action Indonesia is providing those who carry out such atrocities and their supporters with nice ready made Martyrs and a lovely rhetoric for a recruitment drive.
It would be far better if they were to spend the rest of their days as convicted murders in the Indonesian Prisons. This would have a more demoralizing message. One of your God (whoever that is) will NOT aid in the killing of other humans. The new would-be recruits would not have the same romanticized view if Joe Bloggs was serving life (life being life)for perpetrating a bombing campaign : than if Joe Blggs died at the hands of the opposition in order to set us free.
What color blinds should I buy?
The mini-blinds in our house are pretty worn and need to be replaced. We're going to replace them with 2" Bali Faux Wood blinds. The new blinds, like the old, will be an inside mount. Our walls are an antique white/cream color. The window trim is bright/pure white. The windows are also bright/pure white. The exterior siding of the house is a cream color vinyl, with blue shutters.
The current mini-blind color matches the color of our interior walls. What a local box store has in stock matches the color of our current blinds and interior walls. To get a bright/pure white, we'd need to special order the blinds at almost double the cost of what's in stock.
The bright/pure white trim in the house is very noticeable. I don't want new blinds to be the focal point of every room. Can I get away with blinds that match the color of the interior walls (antique white/cream) or should I pay the extra to match the blinds to the color of the trim?
I would use the antique white for the blinds, because if you have that bright white for the trim AND the blinds the white will be absolutely glaring !
How 'Kurbani' or 'bali' of other's life can be justified as a sacred or religious act ?
Is it possible for a father(God) to see one of his son being killed by another one to please Him ?
People may try to justify it with examples, but I think those who shed blood of others in the name of God can not be called religious.

Thanks for bringing up this subject about which I have very strong feelings which are similar to yours.
The Supreme Creator, call him God or by any other name you wish to, created all living beings. No creator can ever wish the death of his/her creation. It really hurts a creator - an artist or a sculptor or anybody else - when his/her creation is sullied, let alone destroyed. So, by no stretch of imagination can we suppose that God desires the sacrifice of one of His living creations.
In Islam, Id-uz-Zuha came into being after Ibrahim (Abraham according to the Jews) decided to sacrifice his favourite son Ishmaeel according to Allah's command, directing Ibrahim to sacrifice what he cherished most. Allah was pleased by Ibrahim's fervour and his slayed son turned into a slaughtered lamb, while Ishmaeel stood safe. Since then Id-uz-Zuha has come into existence.
But strange enough, even the most devout Muslim doesn't wish to sacrifice his son or any of his loved family members on the occasion. He doesn't wish to sacrifice himself. Or give away his home, wealth or any of his prized possessions. A poor lamb or some other animal e.g. a cow or a camel, which is most often purchased a day or two before the occasion and with which the buyer develops no bond from the heart, is slaughtered as a symbol of the supreme sacrifice.
Hindus have the Bali, where an animal, usually a black goat/ram or a young buffalow is sacrificed before the God. The black colour of the animal symbolises evil and the sacrifice means the end of evil.
If the sacrificer has a child who has a dark complexion, I am sure he wouldn't think of sacrificing him as a symbol of evil. While a poor animal is sacrficed as a symbol of evil, real evil like murderers and rapists move around scot free without being punished. And, even more ironically, some of these criminals make some of the biggest animal sacrifices.
I think that such rituals were in fact concocted for a large scale feast of flesh and a garb of religion thrown over them, in order to conceal any question that might arise over their legitimacy.
I am not sure if Christianity has such rituals, so I will not comment on the same.
I don't abhor meat eaters - any person is free to consume anything he/she likes. Flesh eaters have a role to play in the growth of human civilisation. Human civilisation grew up after large forest tracts were destroyed and many animals were killed. If people stopped taking meat altogether, the animals, even the domestic ones, would grow to numbers whereby they would become pests rather than providing any benefits. Even in animal conservatories like animal parks, certain species are culled peridocially to keep their growth in check and within manageable limits.
But sacrificing animals in the name of God and religion, is surely hypocrisy of the worst kind and brooks no excuse to continue. It should have no place in civilised human society. People who support such rituals are far from religious.
