Would you recommend using a water bed heater under an inflatable spa?

I am planing to buy a portable inflatable spa and planning on putting it in my spare room in my house with ventilation. It doesn't have a heater and someone told me to use a water bed heater under it. Would that damage the vinyl on the underside of the spa or damage my non carpeted vinyl tile floor?

A spa inside the house in not a very good idea. The humidity level will be sky high, mold will start to grow and if it leaks, well you will have mess, make sure your home owners insurance covers any damage. If the heater is not on a GFI you could get the shock of your life

I think it will be best if you consult with the manufacturer of the portable inflatable spa.

I agree on the humidity problem. If you intend to do it anyway be sure to use a thick plastic cushion between the heater and floor and the heater and spa. Waterbeds are designed for heaters, plastic spas may not be unless they say they are. Waterbeds were built to contain any leaks in a separate plastic layer to protect the house, your house will not have any protection from your spa. If you read the cost of repair to homes damaged in floods you might reconsider your idea. Take a look at how a bathroom is designed in order to have a fiberglass spa installed.

All good answers so far, but consider this: Most permanent spas have 10,000 watt heaters and waterbed heaters are usually in the 300 watt range, heating a spa with one would be like trying to put out a fire with thimbles of water.

Water bed heater to supplement inflatable hot tub inflatable spa heat?

Just got one of those inflatable spa / inflatable hot tubs. It works pretty well, I was surprised, but the water temperature is a little week. Anyone think a waterbed heater might help it reach optimal temperature? The spa walls are made of a vinyl product.

Unfortunately you just found out why they are cheaper. The heaters are 115v and can only make the temp go up around 1.5 degrees an hour. The nice thing is that they are cheap to operate with the coil heater around the pump. The sad part is that they are expensive to fix and there isn't any way to suppliment the heat. I have played around with some of our soft tub customers for years. I don't think much of the product. Wish i could help you. Be careful and do not let any type of immersion heater if you go that route neary the walls or you can melt them.

How Much More A Month Will It Cost To Run A Water Bed Heater?

iI Live In Mi.

Call your local electric co. and they will tell you exactly how much per month it will cost. In fact, they probably have a booklet they can mail you that will give you the cost of running many household things.

is there someone that has a water bed heater in tulsa

ok my mom and dad need 1 in a couple of days my dads got bad arthritis and NEEDS the heater so we need 1 in TULSA so plz answer if u have 1

There are many stores that sell them - probably even WalMart. Go to a water bed store and see how much one costs. Use the yellow pages and call around. Remember it will take a full day to heat the water and with bad arthritis he doesn't want to get into a cold bed.

What size of Megalife water heater would we need to supply 2 showers and one bath in a 3 bed bungalow?

I have been advised to get one of the Megalife Heatrae Sadia water heater and am unsure what size I'd need. I plan to use it to supply 2 showers as well as a bath and usual kitchen etc for a 3 bed bungalow. Can anyone advise what capacity/volume I would need. Also what is the difference between unvented and vented and direct and indirect? Lots of questions but will be glad of any input.

Cheers

I must be feeling generous. You can find all of that information on their website: http://www.heatraesadia.com/hs/heatraes.nsf

However, with what you're describing, you need a minimum of 50gals. (sorry I don't have my calculater or conversion tables handy to do the math for you).

good shopping.
